September 22nd - W3SI Rural Cruise - Pewaukee, WI

We’ll be meeting in the parking lot of the Pick N Save right off Highway 16 at 601 Ryan St in Pewaukee at noon.

This year's Rural Cruise will hit both rustic roads and the Kettle Moraine Scenic Route. We'll start out by heading up past Beaver Lake, Merton and North Lake on Hwy. E, part of the Kettle Moraine Scenic Route, and through the quaint town of Monches. We'll then take County Line Rd over to Monches Rd to the curvy, narrow Rustic Road into Washington County, doubling back on St. Augustine to end up on the elevation changing and curvy Plat Rd, past Lake Five and through the town of Plat, and through the Kettle Moraine State Forest. Then its back on Monches Rd for the down hill coaster onto Hwy. 164. We'll pay close attention or miss the tight left-hander onto the infamous Hogsback Rd, through the ravine, and through major twisties and hills, passing Friess Lake and popping us out on scenic Holy Hill Rd. We'll take the uphill curves as we pass Holy Hill on Rt. 167, which is one of the highest points in Wisconsin, and then take Hwy K passed Pike Lake State Park into Hartford for ice cream at DQ.

We’ll then cruise through town on our way back over to Hwy 83 as we descend on to the Kettle Moraine Scenic Route. We'll drive through Thompson and maybe stop for some pictures at Erin Go Bragh Park. After we pass Murphy Lake, we'll take the downhill plunge on Hwy. Q and cut back across to Hwy. 83 on the closed-end section of County Line Rd. Maybe pictures there instead. Then we’ll travel past North Lake and through the small town of North Lake as we head towards the twisty’s past Chenequa in between Pine Lake and Beaver Lake. From there we'll cross Hwy. 16, splitting Delafield and Hartland, and then cross I-94, passing along the edge of the Lapham Peak Kettle Moraine State Park. We'll end our cruise at club member Eric/unclebenny's house in Oconomowoc. He is also hosting post-Cruise festivities.
