If any of you folks feel like coming by and donating your car as a photography subject, let me know in this thread or in PM. I'd like to get some practice in this summer. Maybe we can even have a mass photo shoot like the Chi crew does, and have a little get together. I'm not in a hurry, or anything, but as a fun added bonus,... for the first car out, I'll make a custom sig for you! I've been a member for so long and haven't met any of you jerks yet.

Name's Joe, and I live in Appleton.
Photograph background: none. I'm just a hobbyist with a D-SLR, a portrait lens and a pretty good eye for composition, but I'm no professional. A friend of mine got me into photography and have been hooked ever since.
My VR-4 is down for upgrades right now, so I figured a good way to meet you guys would be something worthwhile like a photo shoot or a cookout/gathering. No big deal. We've got all summer.

I have seen some of Jess's pictures before and she is pretty good. Jess, if you show up for a gathering make sure to leave the pink bikini at home or no one will get any work done! Just kidding the bikini is welcome Anyway I would like to get some more nice pics of my car. Here is a picture I took on Memorial day. This is the first time I'm letting the group know what I did to my car. I know everyone is going to call me a ricer! The good part is that I'm and engineer and already have them documented so if someone wants to make their own set it will not cost them much to make. I also need some nice pictures of my engine bay. I polished the intake and front valve cover. Also added a shiney new Y-Pipe. So I guess let the flames begin.....I'm a ricer now! http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2351471Kyle aka Bunk

LOL Yah know, I'm pretty sure I've been called a ricer sometime or another because of the body kit I have on my car.... anyways, I think it looks good. I've always wanted to check out a stealth with lambo doors. (is that what they call them these days??) So is it hard to get in an out of it?

Yeah, hell, of course! Anyone can bring their camera.
Between Jess and I, I think we can beautify some desktops.
I don't think the VLS is particularly ricey, at least not on a 3/S. They're on the fringe of being exotic enough to pull off the look.

Oh. And it's a Nikon D80, my friend basically picked it out for me, and a wide zoom lens (18-55). Saving up for the 18-200mm VR lens

I also have a 75-300mm zooom lens, which I love. I hate having expensive hobbies... but yah, just gimme a time/place and I'll be there!

I always liked the VLS doors but always thought they were way overpriced. Then last year he had a group buy at a pretty reduced price so I bought them. The way I looked at it was that if I didn't like them I could always sell them and get my cost back and probably a bit extra. It was funny last week I was in Georgia on business and we had 6 customers from Japan there. They spoke very little english. I just happened to have the picture of my car with me. Flipping through some documents one of them spotted the picture in my folder and asked to see it. All of them were GTO GTO, GTO, Diablo doors, diablo doors, a lot of head nodding, Nice GTO, Nice GTO, Nice GTO. It was pretty funny. But now if they like it and their from Japan... oh crap I really am a Ricer!!! Now its not so funny anymore. oh, ya...Jess they are not too hard to get out of. It just takes a bit of getting used to. The one thing you have to get used to is not pull them down too fast or you can bounce them a bit. Kyle

Yeah once (if we can) we get a few more people on board we can set up a time and place.
I thought about the VLS doors, but what I especially like about the new ones is that they can open conventionally as well, - now that's nice. Unfortunately, right now, the 3.6liter 6G74 swap is at the top of the list.

Being able to open the doors normal or vertical was a big selling point for me. Like I said making a set should not be too expensive. I would say to make your own set maybe $500.

Can I get the VLS and the pix all in Appleton? Count me in for both! But seriously, I too was into photography, pre-kidlets. Used Fuji film back then. Actually could afford a lot back then (grumble, whine, piss, moan [/rant]). Zack now has a Fuji S5200, seems pretty cool. SJ

Sweet. So far we've got me, Kyle, Jess and SJ. Any other takers?
It doesn't have to be in Appleton, I'm sure. It'd just be easiest for me to manage more of a cookout type deal up here.
