The two lines were amazingly different. The flex section had moved about an inch toward the turbo, which put it in direct conflict with the airspace that the header wanted to occupy. We tried the custom lines, but -10 AN fittings were rediculously huge. they hit more stuff than the stock lines. So, on that note, if you plan on doing custom lines go with -8. Either that, or with a different fitting that screws right into the flanges they might have worked. I also tried to put the flanges on my new turbos, and they seem to have a hard time sliding under the compressor housing, which I don't like. The flanges and the fittings need a bit more work before the braided return lines could be sold to the general public. So after seeing the braided line not work and the replacement I asked Jesse how the old one fit, which he promptly told me he sold them to a guy in Eau Claire. Then I made him look for it. After holding them next to each other it was easy to see why it didn't run right. We still had to modify his old line. The weld from the flex section to the hard line was huge, so we ground it down a bit. We also flushed it with brake cleaner to get the old gunk oil out, and cleaned the gasket surface, which had some kind of goop on it. And then POLISHED IT.

I will also say this, after looking at those precat eliminators and the way you can't get a socket on them, or a wrench without having the turbos off the engine I'm seriously wondering what I'm going to do with my car if it turns out to be that big of a pain in the hinder. I'm going to take a good long look at those precats to see if the second gens get a little more user friendly before I start thinking about a swap in my garage now.

Pulling the engine brings in a whole lot more "might as wells". It'd be foolish to not install a clutch maybe some headwork if you plan on going that far. I'm not afraid to tackle the job with the motor in the car. I've seen it done with the right tools. Gonna shoot you a PM.

My engine is not coming out until it NEEDS to... (later, and then it'll have to get crazy) there is plenty left from me to do while it is still happily chillin out in the bay. I have a lot of respect for Jesse for doing what he is doing.
And I forgot to mention that my cousin who made the flanges for the return lines said that he would make just about whatever a guy could want for a car. These are CNC machined peices of fun stuff for your ride out of whatever material you want. Obviously to exotic, or to expensive/rare you'll have to get the metal yourself. He said he'd charge twenty dollars an hour for his time. He has training on five axis programs, also, so he can get pretty crazy with trinkets. I also believe that they can go from autocad directly to his machine, so...
He also has some pretty awesome machining skills. If any of you watch the Discovery channel and watch those guys building bikes he does that. from scratch. does not buy the frame, makes the frame. rolls the gas tank. It's pretty insane. custom headers, stuff like that would be the norm for him.
not sure if it'll go anywhere, but I figured I'd throw it out there if any one needs any custom stuff for their ride.

Adam, I forgot to tell you. Have him machine me a set of strut tower covers. I'm definitely in for that. With a 95, i don't think you have those, so I guess I'd have to ship you mine?

As soon as you start changing things that's when it get complicated. G-Ell wrote: EGR block off plates! Doesn't seem like a problem. anything custom that you want carved into it, like "G-Ell", or something? Don't they have these already? Thanks for the vote of confideince Jeff. I have a trailer to drag it anywhere I want if I completely give up, too. I think it would be a bonding experience for me and my car.

Yes, but by the time you pay for shipping and handling, it's like $30-40 for the stupid things, and it seems like who ever you're ordering them from, they never have silver in stock.
