Just looken around trying to find a used air compressor before purchasing a new one.
Not looking for anything fancy. 15 gallon would be way more than I need it for (sanding, air tools...).

Greg--If I were you, I wouldn't get anything smaller than a 30 gallon. Make sure it has a high cfm too. If you use a die grinder to do any sanding, porting, or polishing, you will appreciate the 30 gallon tank as a 5-6 hp motor will not be able to keep up at 90 psi. That is where I've had the biggest issue with my compressor.
BTW: Craftsman seems to have very good prices on compressors (especially when they are on sale/closeout). You can often pick up a 5.5-6.0 hp and 30-33 gallon tank for under $300 (sometimes they throw in a $125 air tool kit too).

My biggest problem with a 30 gallon tank is space. My garage is pretty small. That's why I was thinking I might get away with a 15 gallon. You're probably right though...
I might just end up buying a new one anyway, but was hoping maybe I could spot a deal online for a used one.

If you get a vertical style tank, the 30 gal doesn't take up much more floor space than a 15 gal, and they aren't too much more expensive. Here is an example: http://www.sears.com/sr/javasr/product.do?BV_UseBVCookie=Yes&vertical=TOOL&pid=00916870000&subcat=Air+Compressors+%26+InflatorsIf you get a used one, just make sure the tank was drained properly and often, as they rust easily from the inside out due to condensation forming in the tank. I would just advise to get the biggest one you have room for because the things are so noisy when they run that it about makes you deaf when doing long duration things like grinding. And I'll stop hijacking your thread now. I just thought I'd offer some advice in case a larger tank fits your needs better. Brad

What all do you use it for?? Or just impact/wrenching?

That along with sanding (primarily) and maybe some painting too. Not to mention inflating tires and pressure testing. It's amazing how much faster you get something done on a car using an impact.
I've needed one for a while.
