I looked up the pricing information for both the Milwaukee based ferry and the Manitowoc ferry, and here is the pricing for both.
Milwaukee Ferry (Lake Express) Adult: One Way $50.00 Round Trip $85.00
Automobile: One Way $59.00 Round Trip $118.00
Manitowoc Ferry (S.S. Badger) Adult: One Way $49.00 Round Trip $82.00
Automobile: One Way $53.00
Both Ferries you have to pay for BOTH car and person, so it seems like it is an expensive way to go. Looks like we will be better off putting together a caravan and braving Chicago traffic. What do you guys think?

There's got to be other ways around the Tolls and busy Chicago highways.

Traffic still blows though, especially where 80 and 94 come together between the south suburbs and Gary. That's always the worst part. I think that might be the busiest stretch of semi-truck traffic in the country. Semis really back things up there ... you have to get really lucky. When I was going to school in northwest Indiana, I had to deal with that about once a month ... I still remember a thursday night where I left school at 10:30 pm and STILL ran into bumper-to-bumper traffic that had me sitting still. With no construction or accident anywhere to be seen. Stupid city.

The I-Pass is a good idea, but I don't think we will be able to do anything about missing traffic, unless we go WAY out of our way to get there.

Have any of you guys ever ridden the manitowoc ferry? I went with my old man on that a few years ago (2 or 3) and from what I remember they pack you in like sardines and there's a bunch of sick little kids... think door dings (many) and puke. not me. no sir. or my car. Just an FYI I'd take chicago any day over that ferry unless I drove an geo metro. Do with my opinion what you will.

I think we have given up on the ferry idea. What is plan B? Setup a caravan and all head down together, and use the I-Pass?

The bad news ifor me is that it looks like I will be unable to leave until sometime after work on Wednesday. That will put us in late at the hotel. I'm sure you guys will want to head over far ahead of that. Sorry, there is nothing I can do due to my work schedule. Regards, SJ

So what time is everyone planning on headin up? And how many people have I-Pass's that might split us up a bit when we hit the tolls. But seriously how many people plan on riding together and where and when do we plan on meeting?
