Car started making the same exact clanking in 1st and 2nd gear and a humming at higher speeds that it did due to bad bearing in my old transfer case. I'm going to check the fluid on it tomorrow to see if my brand new tcase that has been on there for 200 is already fawked. When we did the clutch install last weekend it left a pretty good size puddle on jeffs drive way, but we thought it was just coming from the vent on the top of the tcase. Can anyone tell me when I'm going to catch a break?

Damn leaking Tcases. I thought Mitsu fixed that in the recall.

No fluids came out? Are the seals leaking again after the recall? Dodge should replace the whole damn thing again then. WTF.
I'm assuming the t-case is toast.?

I didnt take off the drain plug - just checked it through the fill plug and there was tc oil all over the bottom of the tcase. Its also making the same bearing clanking noise and whine at higher speeds that the old one did.

Sorry to read about your problems.
This sort of problem seems to be more and more common. Does the T-Case have any cracks or missing bolts? Did your case have a steel brace that wasn't transfered to the new case?
The only ways these parts should be failing so quickly would be major car accidents or incorrect installation.
Take it to a different dealer. They should honor the warrenty for the case installed by the prior dealer.
I still check my transfer case every morning for leaks. I use a Snap-On mirror on an extendable pole. Still leak free with a few thousand on it. I'm getting sick of checking it all the time though.
I wish Mitsu's recall would have added an AWD idiot light to show when the fluid is low.

Well this time i replaced the drive shaft and that took care or the clanking. The problem was the rear most part of the DS was clanking and it was transfering the noise right up by the Tcase again, so thats why I thought it was the Tcase. So all is well after the new drive shaft, well ecept for the the metal shavings in the tcase.
