When I reach about 4500 I start to get a stutter and my exhaust starts to pop I was told there were brandnew wires put on just before I bought her, so I was wondering if there could be any thig else I should check for (I already replaced 1 bad coil, and rebuilt the ecu) Also I have a bad berring in the rear end how can you tell what side is bad with the AWS. Thankyou Jeff

Is the stutter only under boost?
What kind of plugs are in the car, how old, what gap?
Do you have any mods?
Matt

Does this happen in any gear? Any mods on your car? How many miles?
I've found the most common causes for sputtering on our cars are old fuel filters, old spark plugs, and holes in the exhaust (even minor ones). It's common for the front manifold and the flex section of the downpipe after the front cat to leak.

It usualy happens in first and second gear sometimes third, it only happens under WOT , it doesn't happen all the time, when it does happen the car will idlel very low sometimes stalling out, ngks not exactly sure what type, gap is .39 plugs are about 1 1/2 years old, k&n intake custom exhaust, I know the exhaust has some small leaks , there is 150,000 miles but she has been well serviced and runs strong

I had a similar thing happen on my 91. It was spark blowout from a wire that had an arching issue. If I were you, I would replace the plugs, gap them slightly tighter (.032"-.034") and see if that takes away the problem. It's a relatively simple task (if you do it yourself/with friends) and isn't very costly.
Next, I would consider the fuel filter, if it's the original. That's also not a very large project, and should probably be replaced anyway at your mileage.
If you can, find a knowledgable w3si member to help you out with the project. It can really save you some labor costs.

The plugs are fine for stock boost. It could be possible that the other coils are showing their age, but I'd start with the exhaust and fuel filter.

I was wondering if it could be my cats that are giving me this stutter, if they are bad. I have 153000 miles on her maybe they are shot.... How do you go about gutting the cats once they are off the car?

Large drill bit(on a drill)/screw driver. then take a wire brush and clean the sides down.

Can you get a tool up there too rip the crap out? If you can I don't see any reason to take it off, other than to throw it in a vise and clean the inside out good. (Does that make sense?)
If it breaks off the sides and starts to twirl in a large chunk (drilling out) you may have a pain in the ass on your hands. Pussies wear safety glasses. Real men have eye patches.

Why don't you just buy a test pipe and put it on.It should be alot easier to do that than screw with the cat.Plus you can save it to pass emission if they ever do testing up here.I have one in mine and if your ever in Rhinelander I'll show it to you.

I think I have a leak up by the rear exhaust manifold...at least thats what it sounds like. Could something have worked loose or is it more likely that something has wornout or cracked??? Thanks, Jeff
