When you tried starting it, did you remove the spark plugs first to get all the water out of the cylinders? Were you able to crank it over at all?
Sorry for all the questions, I'm still debating on buying this. If the starter was able to crank it over with water in the cylinders it may have broken rings or ring lands or worse case, bent rods from hydrolock. ECU may be fried if it wasn't dried out before starting.
Can I come over some day to check it out?
Thanks

I removed and replaced all the plugs before I ever tried turning it over. I did not see any water in the cylinders. The engine turns over just fine when I try to start it, but just won't start. I pulled a wire and put a plug in it, setting on the plenum and saw no spark while cranking. Tried it with a wire from a different coil and still no spark. I also pulled a plug after cranking and it wasn't wet/didn't smell like gas so I don't think it's getting fuel either.
Absolutely you can come check it out. The car is in Grafton, WI right now. Let me know what day you'd like to come and we'll figure out a time that will work.

Thanks Justin!
Got the car home okay and worked on it a little. Pulled the ECU and it appears fine, water never got that far up. Turbos spin nice with no shaft play or oil. Timing belt looks like the original, glazed over and stiff and someone was wrenching on the cam gear bolts. Next step is check to see if it's still in time and a compression check. If everything is fine I'll install new belt, water pump and tensioner. If not, the engine will be pulled for a winter project.

Well good to hear the ECU is ok. I'll have to get the rest of that stuff mailed out to you next week. I started work this past Monday and have been exhausted with it. This week I'm in Chicago for work until Friday night, but I'll make sure I put everything together and get it out to you following that.

The ECU looks okay, crossing fingers. Timing is on and compression is good too. Cleaned the interior although my wife says it still stinks. At least it doesn't stink like those vanilla fresheners she uses. Can't get the damn seats out because the tracks were in water and the motors must be shot on the drivers side. May have to wreck the seats. Hoping to fire it up this week.
