well, my car is not working right now and I'm taking stuff out of the engine bay little by little. so I started thinking about going single turbo (never thought I'd say that). by bro has a super T70 with external WG. I was thinking to use that for my project. I was looking at Roy's build yet again, and I like it. so what I need from you, guys is to tell me whether its a good idea or what. basically IMHOs is what I'm looking for (based on experience, preferably). about this project and the turbo that I'm hoping to use. PS: my goal is 500-600 awtq on pump/e85 gas, stock internals. few pics of a turbo

I like the idea of single turbo builds, and I was debating doing one myself for awhile, but I just haven't seen a single turbo build yet that has proven to be "better" then running twins so it really depends on what you want.
If you want something that is unique, or just want to try something differnent, then by all means go for it. If you just want to make easy power, TD-05 kits are the way to go.
Maybe Adam will throw his 2 cents in here as well, as he is currently running a nice single setup.

Yay~!
Stupid forum ate my long post.
Basically...
I have both a single'd and a twin'd car. I'm not bias either way.
Single turbo is more expensive then a twin for same horsepower. I very much believe that to be true.
Singles are harder to get help on/twins are easier because more people are familar with them.
Singles have more "OOOOH!" and "AAAAAAAAH!" factor.
Singles are easier to work on/replace/upgrade turbos. I don't have a tight space to work on my rear turbo in, because there is no rear turbo. If I didn't like where a bolt was on my twin set up, I moved it because I had to replace all the pipes anyway.
I would never have done a single if I didn't have a machine shop/welder/solid grasp of tubrocharging fundamentals.
If you want to go single, it will cost more and take more time because 99% of the stuff you need is custom. Or at least it was when I did it.
I hate rear turbos. They are difficult to work on, and gave me a flat spot on my nose. FTRT.
woot.

my car is down for already 4 months, so I'm used to the idea. I'm planning to do some of the work my self (or with help of the friends/family members).
what about this turbo? any good? will it be enough?

I have no idea what a "Super T" can do as far as power. Or if it is any good.
If I were you, I'd try checking 1st - if any other 3/S's are running it... maybe search on 3si, and 2nd - supra forums. They are also a three liter engine, and to be honest, most of those guys will be more truthful with a turbo set up then 3/S guys.
Probably because 3/S guys don't change there set ups every few years normally... and they all have this, "I have to be the best at this set up" complex that forbids them from telling people what they really think.
As far as your power goals, I think that 500 hp is probably where most people should stop on the stock engine. especially if you don't plan on doing anything at all.
Can the engine handle more? sure. But most people have suck-tastic tunes, other issues that they never fixed before modding there car, and the ability to think that no amount of timing advance is too much.
Plus, I also think that alot of people have no f'ing clue what 500 hp really feels like.
Let alone 600 hp.
NINJA EDIT: why is your car down?
How much are you looking to spend?
Where are you getting your single turbo stuff from? ie: manifolds, exhaust/intercooler/intake piping, engine controls...

I'm on the fence about this (but on the "twin" side of it).
I was hoping to make exhaust and intake pipes myself. I guess I can't use stock ecu with safc anymore.
so looks like it will take a lot more time and for the same money I can get my "hp goals" if I go twin. I was thinking 19T or smaller if its a good deal. so I was hoping someone would "talk me out" of the single idea. cuz I know nothing about it and that is why I'm here asking questions.
PS: my car doesn't start.

First thing to check is if you have both fuel and spark.
