A freind of mine just purchased a 97 VR-4 and has a freon leak at the compressor. Anyone know how much work or be interested in a cookout in Eau Claire and fixing it? Or if you just have any tips.

It's cake to replace. Pull the radiator, grab a 12mm (might be 10mm) socket, loosten hose bolt where it attaches to compressor, step back, wait for freon to discharge, pull hose, replace seal, reinstall, and then finally recharge.

Would I be able to swap the compressor with a 1g 3k or Stealth?

They have different part numbers so I doubt it. I don't even think it'll bolt up. If it's cheep enough, it's worth a shot though...

First gens bolt on with three bolts.
Later models utilize four bolts.

Will the compressor from a 94 vr-4 fit in a 97 vr-4?
