Joe, hey buddy, how have you been? We need to hit the town again . This fix is for my NA, and not the turbo. My 92 DOHC NA, so you're assesment applies I imagine, I'll take a look, you are signed up for the 19th right? Bret My94r/t wrote: The T-Stat is very simple to change. No need to pay to have it done.
Its directly below the radiator cap. I'm not 100% sure on what parts need to come off first on the turbo cars, but on my NA, I just removed the intake pipe and the 2 bolts holding the housing on.
I flush my own coolant, but I've had mine done on another car at an oil-change place before and the car was fine.

Bret, I need to pull your radiator to replace your AC condensor seals for the R134a conversion. If you can wait for the GB gathering, I can flush your cooling system & replace your thermostat at the same time.

doesn't the housing have three bolts? Or is that an "NA wieght reduction" trick...?

It's has 3 12mm bolts that hold it to the housing and 1 10mm bolt for the hardlines that needs to be removed.

I may be able to do that, don't know that I want to drive it 8 hours with the heating problem but I could drive over-night when it's cooler. I'll keep an eye on it and see how it does. Dude, seriously. go open the pet cock to the radiator. right now.
let it drain, then close it, and fill the system with water. it won't freeze, because it's summer, and water cools better than an antifreeze mix anyway. see if that improves the situation.
we'll change it out, blow out the radiator when you get to the gathering.
Do it now. tap water is cheap.

Do it now. tap water is cheap. run some water through before you close the pet cock. tap water FTW as long as it's real short term. It would be better to use distilled water. It'll only cost you a couple dollars, but will not cause mineral deposits.
