Hey all, remember those Plymouth Sundace Dusters 91 and newer. They had the exact same engine as the base model 3s, SOHC V6 except they were about 800 to 1k pounds lighter. Question is how much larger is the DOHC over the SOHC and what area does the extra space take up in the engine compartment, imagine putting one in that little car. Curious if it would fit in the engine compartment of one of these, any thoughts? Here is a pic of the engine compartment, have to scroll down through the various pics to see it. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1-Owner- ... dZViewItem

Any other silly questions?
but if your gonna do this, you really should get a transmission to turn the correct wheels. or transplant the all wheel drive. narrow the rear end and have two big meats in the back of that car. quality sleeper.

Engine sits on the wrong side of the engine bay. Actually, I did see someone transplant a DOHC NA motor into one of those once. Can't find it doing a quick search though... I just remember seeing pics of the custom motor mounds and intake manifold. It didn't look easy.

Haha, found it. http://www.cardomain.com/ride/693477Looks pretty solid, now add the 2x turbo and shapap! Would be a fun project. You guys are saying though that even though it is the same engine as the SOHC it's all twisted around and funked up in the engine compartment. A 3L out of an 3g Eclipse will work. When I found out the came with a 6 I though about swapping in a TT motor and the decided it was too much work for a beater.

Call me crazy, or stupid, or both. I think I'm going to embark on this task. Going to begin looking for a Duster that the body is in decent shape and a 3s that has been in a roll-over or something and try it. It's going to be a fast damn car.
Any of you guys know any good engine mechanics that do wird custom stuff like this?

I would, but I am also currently in negotiations with the Michigan 3SI and the Michiana3S. They all want a piece of me, it's not just you guys. I'm afraid I'm going to have to go with the highest bidder in this case
