I say go with the E-manage. It should work good enough to get the car to the UMG and cruise around, if you are ok with that. I don't see what the problem would be. Airflow is airflow isn't it? Granted you will have more available. I wouldn't run a halfa$$ AEM tune.

I vote you install the AEM so I can get your e-manage. Matt is right though. The smart thing to do would be to wait. ...but still...

I'll have to extend the wires for the MAS. at minimum. any large problems with that which anyone sees...?
I guess it should work fine...
I don't think I wanna set up the MAS in blow thru...

How far are you extending it ? There won't be a problem as far as airflow readings, but it may affect (not likely)the baro and iat depending on the length. Will pulling the MAS directly in front of the turbo inlet affect the senor at low rpms?

I doubt the baro will care much, but the temp sensor may read cooler. It's not right in front of the turbo. the turbo is gonna have an S shaped 4" tube feeding down to the passenger side intercooler hole. The MAS will have to go on the end of that... wtf ftw.

The Baro and Temp sensors just use variable voltage. The Karman signal is just hertz. Then there's power and ground. There's no resistance to any of those so you should be fine extending them.

So, here's where it stands today.
everything is done except the flex section needs to be put in the downpipe.
I've carefully looked over the welds, and there are a few spots that I want matt to "touch up." One weld on the cross over pipe is rediculous... I'm now wondering if I need to make up a bunch of different pressure testers for these header pieces...
I've decided to just get the car back as soon as Matt gets the downpipe finished. I'll fab up the coolant over flow box myself, and I got an air powered die grinder to smooth over a few spots in the headers that I'm not happy with, but will take Matt another two weeks to get finished up.
If I grind down any welds to far, I'll just bring it in and have Craig touch it up. He's not as pretty with his welds as Matt, but it'll get done.
The headers and intercooler piping still need to be coated. I've got a line on a guy in the fox cities that has quick turn-around, and has supposedly done a few turbo headers before... It's a black coating and is good past 1200 degrees, which is more than jet-coat. (my other local option)
So, to anyone who has been following this thread, I think it may have been easier to just go with two TD05 turbos. But that may not have been as much fun.
We mounted the wastegate on the collector before the turbo, biased to one set of "runners" if you will. I hope this won't cause issues with boost control.
I'm still not sure if the radiator fans will even fit but I got a set of slimline flex-a-lites... that should keep me cool for now. 2500 gpm. And if it does come to the UMG, the air filter may be sticking out of the bumper duct-taped on ghetto style! wheeeeeooooooo.
roflcopter lollerskates...

Told ya so^ I said it may have been easier to put on. I'm also betting that the performance for well matched twins will be as good or better. because you are just closer to the exhaust outlet, and there is less turbulence as the runners can merge right at the turbine blades... But, if there is one thing I understand about forced induction, its that the common therioes that people use for NA headers get thrown out the window. such as equal length... I think that may be over rated on forced induction motors... take a good look at the stock front maniflod and tell me you think you can make over 500 hp with that... but people have! BUT once everything is worked out, I still think it will be easier to work on, and possibly cooler (as in temperature, not "with teh coolness") than a big twin set up. Plus, upgrading the turbo should be easier... If anyone would so choose to do that. and someone needed to go single. so why waste a decent car on it. We'll see in a bit how it works, I guess. Matt, when I'm up to re-assembly I'll give you a call.

SO...
At this point the project will not make it to the UMG.
Hugely dissapointed.
we finally got all the header and intercooler piping done, and I call the guy who will coat the stuff in 2000 degree coating, and he's leaving for vacation next week. he's booked the next two days.
I don't think I just want to wrap everything in header wrap... just to take it back off again, and what not...
Plus, the car doesn't have an engine management system like it "should" have.
... and it could really use new rubber before it goes out on a road trip...
all this adds up to the fact that I just didn't push Matt hard enough, and make sure he met the deadlines that I honestly needed to meet.
So rather than trying to band-aid everything together just to run it down there, and have to baby it around, I think I'll just have to take the benz...
Hugely dissapointed.

This was the single lamest thing I've read all month. The weaksauce is overflowing the sides of the "half empty" glass here adam. You realize by not bringing a 3S, you are the OFFICIAL W3SI BEER BITCH by default. Trust me, I was last year.

I didn't say anything when it was just wheels keeping your car off the road for over a year. but as soon as someone rips out half there engine bay it has to be done before the UMG... oh I see how it is. ver fer wrote: You think you'll be able to make the NG deadline? hadn't really planned on going to the NG this year. I thought it would be a better vacation for me to head to EAA with the father. It should be done by the next GB gathering... pics of all the piping have been up loaded to us3s. along with pics of my duck.

The saga continues. My father has a friend at his work that runs a flat bed, and that was the weapon of choice to bring the car home on. So we went out and got it from matts and brought it home rather un-eventfully. Then, after two or three beers in the garage my father starts giving me static about how the car will never run again. I tell him that the maximum amount of time needed on this project will be thanksgiving. if the car isn't running by thanksgiving I'm done. He goes "no way." So we set up a race for pink slips. his old 97 extended cab two wheel drive pick-up vs. my stealth. thanksgiving day before we go to my grandmothers. winner gets the other's car. he is convinced I will have to push my car down and back. I tell him, "don't talk so smart, we've put 4 transmissions in that truck already, you could puke another one any day now. then this race will really get intresting, because it will be mother pushing you vs. lisa pushing me..." He continues giving me greif until I go in to put the kid to bed. I got an e-mail from him ten minutes ago. his tranny blew up on the way to work this morning. karma. remember that. karma.
