We're gonna tear er apart and have some fun Brett: I am so sorry, I am an idioto. I forgot -- and how I don't know -- but a fellow brother called and reminded me. Thursday through tomorrow (so yeah, like I missed Thursday night!) is our Spring Reunion (32-degree Scottish Rite Mason). I was there tonight, back there tomorrow 7a-5p. I can't make it. Life has been just too busy man. Best of luck. I'm sure spyder gear killer will help you famously. Forgive me man. SJ

Brett,
Typically the tranny drains much slower than, for example, engine oil. It's much thicker... The foul odor just confirms your suspicion of damage. I won't be able to answer the phone until after 1:30 tomorrow, but feel free to call if you have questions.

Status update
We are still all high on fumes. The smell of burnt gear oil is possibly the second worst smell known to man, aside from burnt popcorn. After approx 8-10 hours the transhmission is out, and gooey. So far looks to be everything plastic inside has melted, so stay tuned for a list of internals that I will need to replace.
As of right now the diff and housing look intact. In a little bit Joe and I shall muster up the courage to tackle the garage stank once again...
Big thanks to Joe, Aaron, and the mighty verfer for making it up here to lend their knowledge and help a brotha out!

Right now I'm thinking about finding a used 5spd 25spline and going with that, piecing parts together to make one solid tranny and probably sell the salvage parts.

Let me know if you need any parts. We have a few spare trannys out here. 8-10 hours to pull a tranny? What took you guys so long?

I might have to hit you up on parts, we think that all synchros will need to be replaced, and Joe and Aaron can chime in about more things..

Anyway, it was basically a charred mess in there. The gears all seemed to turn fine by hand this morning. It'll have to be cleaned up nice in order to really see anything.

Update:
Called a shop here in GB about a rebuild, they said 275 bench labor plus parts... is that a decent deal? I mean I don't need all new parts from the looks of it... opinions?
