I hate starting these threads because I always feel like such a noob but...in the last few weeks my car has been having major steering problems. First of all it

Check the less costly stuff first.
Look at tire pressure, tire wear, and tire abnormalities like bulges in the sidewall. Check the steering fluid level. Check lug nut tightness with a torque wrench.
If the basic stuff checks out it may need work on the rack and pinion, steering box, ball joints, CV joint, and/or tie rod ends. If one or many of these components need replacing then you will need an alignment.
From the description I would guess steering box, rack and pinion, or bent tie rod, but it is hard to know without actually looking at the car.

I could look things over and perhaps give you a better idea of what needs fixing. Shoot me a pm if you're interested in meeting up. Otherwise the guys at Kayser seem to be pretty good. If you take it there, you'll want to show them a W3SI business card to get the parts discount. Let me know if you need more cards.
