Sounds like I need to have a talk with your mechanic about how to diagnose spark issues with our cars before you pay for replacing any more good sensors on your car.
...or hell, I'll GIVE him a copy of the service manual which will walk him thru it.

Could it be injector related?? I would hope he is wiring your sparkplugs correctly. How is coming up with the answer of #3 and 6 being the missers??? Could it be a intake manifold leak? When they did the tune up and possibly put the same gasket back on I seen that look like a miss but in reality was a vaacum leak. Is this possibly being missed?
When the spark pugs were done did you replace the pleneum gasket? ( no pun intended) Tim

So here's the latest. My mechanic has said now "It's probably the ECU". My repair tab was up to $1500.00, but since the car still has problems , he knocked $500.00 off the Total. So here's my conundrum: I'm on a TIGHT BUDGET. 1) I can have my ECU "rebuilt" at a cost of $450.0, BUT if it doesn't fix the car, I've been told that I'm "out" that amount (no returns). 2)Have it towed to the nearest Dealership (40 miles away/$200.00) and let the Mitsubishi Dealership handle it. 3)Hope that someone on the list can sell me CHEAP a used ECU that works.
I'm running out of options and the atmosphere around the house is "tense" to say the least. Any help/info/ECU's would be GREATLY, OH SO GREATLY APPRECIATED! (Shameless plea)!

My suggestion is to find a local guy who will loan you an ECU to try out.
Usually, when an ECU is bad, it's very obvious if you pop off the cover and examine the board for brown/burnt spots.

while I pretty much agree with Greg on the swap ECU thing, I think you should put your ECU into a different car, and see if it has problems running. that would only cost an hour or so of time, and would nail the problem down to the ECU.
Just my 2 cents.

Well, here's the last update for awhile. After MUCH discusion, I've decided to have the Stealth towed home and put in the garage until, after we recieve our Income Tax refund. I'll then have it towed to the Dealership and let THEM fix it. So for now, the baby's back at home to ring in 2006. Thanks to all of you for your input!

Just got an e-mail from the Parts Department at a local Dodge Dealer. They don't make the ECU anymore for my Stealth, but the local Mitsubishi Dealer does. They want $1045.00 for the FREAKING ECU!!! So if I can't buy a "gently used" working ECU off of the list, then I may start hunting around for companies that Rebuild them. I saw one company on E-Bay and the want like $250.0. I need to check they're "Return Policy" too.
(SHEESH....$1K for a new ECU) if thats even the problem!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bottom line It may not be the problem. Get a dealer to run a diagnostics test with thier computer and you may get a much cheaper answer. Don't spend the money on that ECU un less your sure it's bad! Tim
