Hit up GLD tonight. Previous best over a year ago was 13.075 at 104.5mph. I haven't been back since then. Tonights runs: 12.857 @ 105.70 with a 1.809 60' (my first launch and only decent one) 13.040 @ 107.65 with a 2.045 60' (bogged the launch) 12.847 @ 108.44 with a 1.924 60' (bogged the launch) 12.905 @ 106.13 with a 1.887 60' (clutch slipping thru 1st) 13.003 @ 108.73 with a 2.071 60' (bogged the launch) 12.783 @ 108.29 with a 1.868 60' (clutch slipping thru 1st) I'm very happy. with these results. Since my track runs last year, I picked up .3 in the 1/4 mile and 4mph. I added the following performance mods since then: 2 piece CFDS AFC-II (I have the 5000-8400 rpm range subtracting -5%) Lighter wheels 3SX lightweight crank pulley My 60' sucked. Geez, I *used* to be able to cut 1.7x 60's, but I'm nowhere close to that anymore. I think my clutch just isn't holding as well. I either bog, or slip all the way through 1st gear. Regardless, I'm VERY happy with a 12.783 and my traps, damn, I didn't think I'd be consistently hitting 108mph. Very cool. So, that's the latest and greatest. This is pretty much what I figured I should be running, but its nice finally do it instead of bench racing. Jesse PS - I'm even more impressed now with Eric running a 12.5 on a similiar configuration as me. Kudos Eric. I'm wondering how much has to do with your clutch/flywheel/catback (which I don't have) helping you out.

Nice work Jesse! Very cool.
Between yourself and Eric adding to the mix, there's a good number of solid 12 second 3/Ss accumulating!
Maybe a nice RPS street max or something would bring those 60' times down. Your car has a couple tenths in it considering the 1.8x short times.
Later man.

Jesse, I'd say my runs are all 99% car and 1% driver; I do not consider myself adept at racing yet. The clutch made all the difference in the world from my first time at the track to my second and third times now. Judging from the national to now, the driveshaft did net me about .2 in the 1/4. I ran 13.1 there (1.9 60 ft) and this time, the only time I cut a .9 60 ft I ran a 12.9. The rest of my gain was in my launching technique, which is 10 times better than the national. I am finally learning to drive. What boost were you running on pump/race gas on those runs??? I want to try this setup on race gas with hotwired fuel pump next summer to see if I can do better than 12.5 on these stockers.

Matt, Thanks for the compliment. I really believe my clutch is holding me back from matching the 12.5 or 12.6 times I could be getting on my setup. Dropping to a very low 1.7x or high 1.6x 60' should easily have me in the 12.5 to 12.6 range. Unfortunately, I won't be able to get that with my stock clutch which just slips like crazy anytime I launch above 4300 rpm. Anything under 4000rpm it seems to bog. Finding that 4200 rpm range is tough sometimes. Oh well. I think you're right about the RPS Max or equivilent. We'll see Eric, I dunno man, I think your 12.5x run at 109mph with your mods is ALOT of driver. I can't think of many BPU'ers out there running 12.5's can you? I wish I had your clutch, haha. gimme I was running .95 bar at first, then upped progressively to 1.05, 1.10 and finally at 1.15 bar. Granted, with 9b's, you hold that level for a whopping 200-500 rpms before it starts dropping but it did seem to help my traps. I ran a pump/race gas mix. I'm guessing I was around 96.5 octane during the runs.

You can both drive your cars very well! Outside getting crazy through power shifting or VERY high launches, your cars are nearly as quick as they can be.
Great job to both of you, and I don't think you'll have to worry much about the "driving factor" being much of a problem as you move forward.
I hope to get some 11s on Friday.....my transfer case is in for a rough evening! I hope it holds together!
Matt

wow, I cn't believe you took it to the track! Those are some great times. Don't expect much better 60's with a new clutch I've have a hard time getting under 1.8, I think I've only had 2 1.79's w/ the new clutch I think. The clutch doesn't slip so I bog out or break the tires loose. I'm going to try less pressure in the tires but i'm thing i'll need new ones next year.

nice times jesse and quit bitching about your 60' times. Those are respectable. You're still running with the stock clutch?
