Other than not being able to go to the 3si outing on the 25th i do have some good news. I was looking through autotrader the other day and i spotted a 94 vr-4 with 75k miles for 12,800. Anyhow, i called the guy and went and checked it out. Out of the 6-7 vr-4's i have looked at this year, this one tops em all. Nicest one i have seen for sale so far in my area. I go to put a downpayment on it tonight and buy it this saturday. !!! Only have one problem. The timing belt needs to be changed, because as far as i know it has not been changed yet. With 75,000 miles on the car that is a little scary. Now i could take it to keuttner and have them do it for around $800, but i would much rather buy the parts for $325 from 3sx and do it myself. I however do not have the knowledge to do this, So the only way i can do it myself would be with the help of fellow board members who know how. I live in Brookfield, WI which is in waukesha county and i can pretty much do it whenever someone has time to help me. If not, then to the dealership it goes. I am very happy to be joining the TT ranks and appreciate any help with the tune up. Thanks.

Take it over by Mopar Jeff - he can do timing belts in his sleep.

I might be able to lend a hand depending on when you want to have it done. Greg and I have a done a couple, and it's really pretty straight forward. If I can't help, I'm sure Greg could handle it by himself, he knows what he's doing. I wouldn't panic about having 75k on it, just don't beat on it too hard until you get it done.
Anyhow, congrats on the new purchase.

when you say walk me through it do you mean come over and show me how, or tell me over the phone, cause i would prefer to be shown how to do it in person. If you can come over then let me know when a good time for you is. My mom makes great steak, so food is not a problem !! I won't be getting the car till this weekend. Thanks.

No, I can come over and show you how it's done. I've got all the tools we'll need. It'll take up most of an afternoon. Unclebenny and a923kgt can atest for my work. They will be at the cruise on the 25. Here's a list of everything you need: Timing belt Power Steering accessory belt Alternator/AC compressor accessory belt T-belt hydrolic tensionizer White-out & thick zip-ties Thermostat Coolant I'd strongly recommend replacing the waterpump if you have the $$ even though, they say you can wait till 120K. I've heard of them failing prematurely on several cars. It's easy to do once the belt is off. Things that are a "good idea" to replace, but not necessary at this point in your motors life: Tensionizer pulley Idler pulley Crank pulley There is an aftermarket crank pulley out there that will free up some horsepower & is much cheeper than the factory one. Go to www.3si.org/forum and do a search for something called an Underdrive Pulley. Spend some time reading the facts and theories about it. I'll let you make the decision. Once again, this is not necessary. You have a few choices of where to get everything. I've personally delt with our w3si friendly dealer Kuettner Mitsubishi, Speed Factor, and 3SX. All 3 offer great deals, service, & timely shipping. Call around and see who will give you the best deal.

I can also lend a hand in doing this. I've done my own as well as a few others.
Also, get the water pump if you can afford it. Mine wasnt done at the 60k and it went out on me at about 110k. Wouldnt want it to leak and spill on the timing belt. Plus you'll be a half dozen bolts from having it off anyways.

I might be able to come down and help also if needed. If you can afford it I would do the water pump all so. It isn't hard to pull it all apart but it is time consuming.

do i need the tensioner pulleys?
nm, i saw you had them listed seperatly.
Also i work till probably 3:30p.m. on saturday, if you can come out after that that would be awsome, otherwise i probably work till 3:00 p.m. on sunday also and i could do it afterthat. We can do it at my house unless its raining in which case we can go to my friends house and use his garage that has flouresent lights and lots of tools and stuff.
Let me know what works for you. Thanks.

Yeah, do the water pump too! as long as you've got it apart you might as well they only last about 60k. I wouldn't wait too long to do it, I had 78k on my R/T when I bought it and kept putting the belt change off until KABLOOWE. That cost me 1600.00, so do it asap.
