It seems less and less people are bothering to log into the W3SI board. Between the laggyness and random error messages it makes it frustrating. Plus, I've had a lot of people over the last couple of years complain to me that they can't get an id created for the board for one reason or another. I'm sure W3SI is missing out on dozens of potential new members because of this.
I've tried to get the guy who does my behind the scenes work in contact with Matt Rink to maybe move W3SI over to the host of MN 3/S. But that didn't go anywhere. Its kind of sad because I know there are more 3/S owners in Wisconsin than in Minnesota. There is no reason you guys couldn't have an awesome and thriving club.
I'm not technical enough in the ways of message board software to do the behind the scenes stuff myself. So I can't really help in that way.
I would like to start up a Facebook group for W3SI in the hopes of finding some new members and maybe getting some of the existing members a little more energized. I hope that is okay with SJ?
Any chance that one of the five or six people that might actually read this post have any other ideas on how to get W3SI a little more active and thriving?
later, Curt

Curt:
I proposed that very thing to the group over a year ago, and even captured the W3SI on FB. Many were not on Facebook or like it. In addition, I have also taken my account down, and walked away from it.
I will consider discussing this with the club again at our upcoming Rural Cruise October 6th.
Thanks for your interest.

Facebook is by far the greatest advertising tool on planet earth. Why wouldn't you use it? Would it be alright if I created it, and tried to get some people to join it. I'll tie it in with the message board. Then if you get back on Facebook I'll add you as an admin. What do you think?

I'll get back to you after I discuss it with the others involved.
Thanks again for your input.
Please do nothing until you hear back from me.

Discuss with who? You are the only one posting on W3SI?
I've offered to help on W3SI a few times over the years. They have all been unsolicited offers to help. Every time its been the same "thanks, but no thanks" This board/club is in desperate need of a boost.
Facebook is a great form of advertising. Then when you get some of the bugs worked out of the board, it can help redirect people to the messageboard.
What would be the disadvantage of having a Facebook group?

W3si will be running fine shortly.
A software upgrade and a new server are in the works.

Don't have a facebook account. But I could help if needed. I have some experience running eCommerce/forum/social network sites. WP, Drupal, etc..

The existing style/theme won't port to the new version of the forum software. I am working with SJ to setup a new one. Once that done we'll back up the date, move it to the new server, upgrade the forum software and open the doors. I'm hoping for Friday night.
