My rear is looking rough .... I know I should see a Dr. about things like these , but what the hell every thing else is talked about here why not my rear end!!!! Heres the deal I have seals for the shafts leaking and the pumpkin is rusted and ugly. How ugly is a project like just doing the seals? How ugly is the project for taking out the pumpkin and replacing it with new seals ect. Has anyone done this ???? Thankyou, Tim

You talking about replacing the whole diff? Pull the axles and prop shaft and unbolt it. Doing the seals on it is the same as doing seals on anything else I would imagine.

Piece of cake to swap. Just make sure you get the correct rearend. There is a difference between a 5 and 6 speed rear even though they look identical on the outside.

That's what the viscous coupling is for. to take up the slack. Note: for all you mouth breathers out there, I'm being funny. If you put the wrong rear end in your car you will break shit and I will laugh at you for being a mouth breather.

Yes I want to replace the diff. I have access to a shop and lift and will try to make this as least painful as possible. I have a line on a 5 speed which is what I need .
Thanks for the great answers!

After hearing the wing story ....I have seen the light and realized the error of my ways.( Oh now I understand what a tight rear means) Now I can see my true potential ! I shall no longer be "that" kind of RUMP RANGER. Back ends aren't all they are cracked up to be ........ hummm , just say no to ...... crack... I think it's time for some more pills.....
