I have a stumble at 20 psi.
It has gotten worse over the past few days. I feel it's probably the fact that I'm trying to run 20 lbs of boost on the fourteen year old ignition coils, but hey, I like to get my money out of stock parts.
I called up Luke and told him we may need to dial back the boost until I decide what to do. He said that I should try changing the plugs out first.
I'm running iridiums that LSE put in when they originally tuned the car, and it was running pig rich, so I figured, 'ok what the hell.'
I also remember Verfer and I had one hell of a time trying to find a freak'n parts store that would even order the standard NGK copper plugs that would fit a "3000GT VR-4" because apparently dodge stealths can't even accept a copper plug, but 3000's can...
So while I had Luke on the phone I mentioned that to him, and he replied, "Oh, no worries, I've got some here on the shelf, I'll set them out for you."
I swung by to grab them, not even thinking about it, and headed home to install them.
They are the DSM plugs. the BPR8ES (or whatever) are the ones that are too fat for the 3/S heads.
It's the second time in my life that I have done this. I really feel I should have caught it this time. I'm going to blame the first time on Greg, because I dragged him along, and he was like, "oh, they'll fit fine." Then when they didn't fit he was like, "hey, do you mind if I yoink those for my DSM?"
Anyways. I just did something dumb and felt the need to share. So tomorrow it's back to Beyond Redline to see if Luke has any 3/S copper plugs in, otherwise I'll be running around town trying to find the iridium equivalent, and ordering 24 regular coppers so that I don't have this problem for the next six months.
sigh.
