Now that I have your attention, I need some help. My car has a little over 100,000 miles, but I don't know if the 60k tuneup has ever been done.
I was planning on buying the 120k tuneup kit from ips next week, and was really hoping someone could give me a hand with it. Beer and pizza will be provided, and I can pay for gas. If anybody could help me out, I would really appreciate it. Thanks,
Scott

no one from milwaukee actually works on cars since I was there for college.
SJ is too busy looking at girls Hammersly is too busy looking at hondas Eric is too busy... well, I'm sure video games and porn at least... Joe is to busy looking at broken front wheel drive trannys
You might be able to bring it by Jeff.
Another option would be drive it up to green bay where people actually work on cars.
Or maybe bribe Verfer. Offer him a free beard trimmer or something.

Damn. The car isn't what you would consider "drivable" right now. Whenever I pour coolant in, it gushes right out from where I think is the waterpump. That's why I was hoping someone could come to me.

FWIW, I've always purchased my 60k and 120k parts from the dealer cuz it was cheaper, but maybe IPS has a good deal I dunno. Several dealers give us a nice discount... best, Aaron

Well, when I had first bought the car, it had leaked a little coolant, but then stopped, so I had never bothered to fix it.
The car was garaged over winter and never driven, but before I had garaged it I started to have overheating issues, and did overheat once, but I never had any drivability issues after that and never let it overheat agian.
Fast foward to now, I just replaced my radiator, and now when I pour coolant in, I see it just drain out by my oil filter, and i'm thinking it's my water pump.

the water pump is actually not that hard to replace. I've done it twice, but it is an hassle. I'll see if me and a few buddies of mine can come down and give you a hand on it. I'm usually busy working on other cars, but I'll see what I can do in the next week or so. My car is down as well, due to some wheel bearing issues or something of that sort from the passenger front side. but whatever.

at 100k I'd just do the whole 120k service, since to get at the water pump you are taking the timing belt off anyway.
Make sure you get a new hydraulic tensioner.
I've always used OEM stuff on my car as well. I think I got it from 3sx, for some reason, but I don't remember why. I think because the mitsu dealer in green bay asked me for a VIN number, which I didn't have, and the dodge dealership told me it would take six months to overnight parts from Japan.
Alot of times as the water pumps fail they will start to gush more water from the seep on the bottom. I would not drive the car.
It also helps to mark the timing belt and the timing gears with white out, As it is an extra thing to match against besides just the timing marks.
Other than time consuming it's not overly hard.
Oh, and don't jack the engine from the oil pan.
I've got a busy few weekends coming up here, but if no one can help you in the next two weeks or so, I may be able to pop down after that.

Yeah, i'm not driving the car until this is all resolved. I figured I would just do the whole service, just to be safe. And yeah, I never jack the car up by the oil pan.

Nobody in Milwaukee works on cars? How soon we forget about the bald guy Jeff is still around. PM him if you need help - he can do it most anytime, and Elm Grove is a short drive to where he lives.
