So I'm buying a pair of Rob Beck's 13T turbos on 3si. Soon I'll be getting the rest of the supporting mods, 550 injectors, SAFC II, fuel pump, wide band, FMIC, clutch, etc.
I was wondering if anyone on here would care to help with the project of installing this some time in late March/early April? I'm living in the Milwaukee area now. I know Jeff could do it, but I really can't afford to pay someone 1000 dollars in labor with grad school coming up in the fall. Whoever can help, I can definitely pay some and supply beer and food, but just can't pay someone to do it all, plus I want to work on it too.
This is kind of just testing the waters right now. I don't have an extensive tool collection or a very big garage to do this in. But if need be, a friend has a private shop with a lift we could probably use in Grafton, WI. Let me know.

I am pretty sure verfer is running 13t's in his car, might want to check with him for any surprises that came up with installing those turbos. My shop is nearly done so if you would like some help I wouldnt mind helping. Just need to make sure I have my engine out of the way to work.

Nothing big as far as surprises on the install - Beck will email a bunch of info WRT the install - grind the front motor mount, "finesse" the coolant lines, hack and fit the rear intercooler pipe. Modify, or leave off, a rear intake plenum stay. Oh yeah, and tap the oil feed fitting on the front (or rear?) CHRA - man, I already forgot the details. He lays it all out for you in the email, pics and all. As a first-timer, I did mine with no big problems, and minimal expletives. Have fun with these turbos. I'm still working on tuning mine - I'm learning, slowly. But the car is loads of fun, and it makes me smile pretty often. Good luck!

I would even recommend a braided or custom bent front coolant line. I really didn't like how it stressed the line rebending it. Someday I'll tare it apart again and redo it.

Verfer did you stick with stock SMICs or did you upgrade to something else? What psi are you running?

I ran stocks for 2 years I think and then upgraded to DSM SMICs last year. I was running around 15-16 PSI on the street with stock SMICs and pump gas. I could run 21-22 PSI with race gas. I was able to get 18 PSI with 30/70 E85/pump mix. Last year I switched to straight E85 so I don't know how much the DSMs helped, but I been leaving my EBC set at 22 PSI.

Justin, I have a SAFC II that I took out of my first VR4 several years ago. It was working at the time. I was looking to get $150.00 for it. It includes the pigtail harness and If it doesn't work you can have your money back. You can email me at mreagles@wi.rr.com

If I've got bigger injectors and hotwired Walbro, do I need anything else to run E85 in it? Also, do you run an AFPR and what size injectors?

You will need some type of fuel controller. I have 680cc injectors and a fuel pressure regulator.

Yea I have 550s and an SAFCII. Do you think I'll need an AFPR to avoid timing issues?
