OK, I have had my 95 SL 5 spd for about a month now, and was just curious about something. I seem to be averaging 28 mpg!! Not complaining, just curious. When I had my '91 VR4 I never checked to see what I was getting, I just did not care. Same with my '92 R/T.
It seems like a win / win situation for me. A beautiful car, and great gas mileage! The only aftermarket item I have on it is a K&N air filter, and I run synthetic oil in it. My daily drive is mostly Highway 50 from Lake Geneva to Kenosha (55 miles round trip) with around 10 stop signs along the way. I probably average 35 mph (according to my '07 Cobalt that has a computer in it that tells you this kinda useful stuff).
The guestion I have is........ is this unusual or does anyone else get this great of gas mileage? OK, I am an old fart and usually keep it under 70, do not take off like a madman, etc.
Just curious. Dave

Hey Rail. How's that shift knob looking?
Anyhow, yeah that is fantastic gas mileage. I've no idea, as my car is not NA, but I have heard relatively similar things from some of the freak cars on the 3si boards; MPG in the high 20's with combined hwy/city driving. Just be thankful that you were blessed with one of the good ones.

It's not common but it's not unheard of, especialy if you're babying it.

LOL, I really do not "baby" it as much as I probably should. Usually shifting between 3k and 4k rpm, but I am truly grateful now that gas around here is in the $4.02 to $4.09 / gallon range. I guess I can count myself as one of the lucky ones. I think the next time I fill er-up, I will really baby it for a week and see what I can get as a maximum. Thanks for the replies all. rail

K&Ns really do help improve mileage on NAs. Removing the cat and going with a freer flowing exhaust also improves a bit.
