So I heard that using an open atmosphere blow off valve can cause problems when using the stock MAF. Is there truth to this? Could someone explain this to me? Sorry for being such a noob.
Thanks! Justin

i had the turbo xs the loud one on mine and as long as you plug the bottom side of the intake it will work just fine. Then you just run the bov from the y-pipe.

With an open air BOV and a stock fuel system, you may experience a little stumble when you are driving casually and shifty. At the point of shifting, with a stock BOV, you push air back into the intake track past the MAS. If you are releasing that air, then you end up running rich right after you shift. Thus the stumbling. But if you are going WOT, I've heard you don't really experience this.
If you want to tell everyone that you have a turbo car, buy an open air BOV. If you just want a better performing BOV, buy a 1g DSM BOV.
later, Curt

So I can get an open air BOV and plug the bottom and it will eliminate the release of the air causing stumble? But will it have the same sound? I kinda want something loud

You don't plug the BOV you plug the bottom of the "bubble" that splits the air from the MAS to the turbo intake pipes. That is where that stock BOV dumps the excess intake charge when the throttle plate closes.

I didnt plug the bottom of the bubble instead I went to checker and bought a KN air vent that I think was 1 1/4 and plugged the whole with that. My setup was a hard Y pipe then the Greddy Type S BOV with the adapter custom welded to the Y pipe and then I bolted on the BOV so it vented towards the pass fender. It was very loud and I never had a stumble, I was also running a SAFC II and 450cc and I was running a little rich but it ran smooth and pulled hard. I got some pics Ill have to find them.

Well I just picked up a Greddy RS for $100 shipped NIB. So I think I'll run that and see how it goes, if it stumbles too much I'll just buy the recirc adapter from 3sx.
