Hey I'm getting ready to store my car in a couple weeks. Just wondering what you guys do to get it ready for 5 months of no driving? The place I'm storing it is 2 hours away, and will make it very difficult to start periodically. Will it be a problem not starting it at all for 3 or 4 months? I'm leaving it with an empty gas tank and no battery, but anything else I should do?
Thanks, Justin

FULL gas tank is what you want. Moisture will condense inside the tank if you leave it empty. Put some Stabil in there to keep it fresh.
Stuff fabric softener sheets all over. It will help keep rodents away. I put them in my engine bay, rear hatch, tailpipes, sun visors, under the seats, etc. I've hear soap bars work well also.
Don't set the e-brake. It stretches the cable and can trap moisture between the pad and the drum.
Make sure tire pressures are good (35 psi minimum).
Wash it. You don't want any bug guts or bird droppings eating away at your paint.
Change the oil and filter.
Check the temperature value of the coolant. You don't want it to freeze up.
That's about all I can think of off the top of my head. There's plenty more that could/should be done before parking a car for an extended period. I usually do a quick google search to see what all should be done before I park it.

The guy who owns the place I'm storing it says he wants as little gas in the tank as possible for fire hazard reasons, but I'll put some Stabil in there.
No parking brake, is it alright to park it in gear or should I just block the tires?
Do I need to start it periodically or will it be fine just sitting?
Anyone else care to chime in?

I try to have as little gas in as possible then add a bottle or 2 of HEET and 5 gal of fresh gas when I get it out in spring.
It will be ok if it is not run over winter, it will just have alot of lifter tick. Let it idle for a while before you take it out and don't get on it right a way.
