My uncle is a mechanic and he has all these oil filters that he took apart. He said that wix oil filters are really good and they are not that expensive. Anybody ever heard of these oil filters or ever use them?

I'm never used one, but I also heard they are good filters. Much better than Fram which are pretty mch crap in an orange tin can.... LOL. Fram uses mostly paper filtration inside. Not very good at all. Also, our stock Mitsu filters are right up there with the best you can buy.

I use Mobil 1's that can be had at Autozone. Spending ~$12 on an oil filter isn't too much to ask if you want the motor to last more than 150k miles. Purolator makes a a good filter too. http://www.wixfilters.com/productinformation/index.htmlFrom what their marketers tell me on the web site the Wix filter could be a good filter too. Are these more or less expensive than Mobil 1's and where do you get them?

I have never seen these filters at autozone or other stores. My uncle lives in Hartford and there is an auto store up there that carries them.

Bumper to Bumper is still around? I thought they all went out of business. I've never been in one - how do they compare to the other chain stores? Where exactly on hwy 100 is it?

Where exactly on hwy 100 is it? 2373 SOUTH 108 ST. WEST ALLIS , WI 53227 (414) 546-0610 Just south of Lincoln I've only been in there to buy new rotors and pads for my '87 Monte Carlo SS in 1996. I drive past the place on the way to Blockbuster and it seems to still be in operation. Back then it seemed like the old way for part stores a parts counter and few displays, ugly like the back of a mechanics shop. Just the way a man's part store should be.
