I have found a 93 R/T non turbo automatic for sale. The owner has told me that it is lacking power on accelartion, no knocking, and says he had it up to 100 mph yesterday while testing it. My question is this, what could be causing the bad / lack of acceleration, and should I worry about this. Car has 180,000 + miles on it, but the price is pretty right. Thanks, rail

It could be a number of things. A lack of acceleration on an N/A car could be transmission related. Which it kind of seems like that wouldn't be the problem because you didn't mention any trans problems. Otherwise a big killer of acceleration would be a bent rod. However, i'm unsure of how long it would drive like that, but I do know for a fact it will drive with a bent rod, just severly lack power. Maybe theres very little compression in such an old motor? Or it would be something simple... Either way lack of power will require some work or could potentially be huge. Id deffinately look into it more.

Thanks for the response, I guess I will pass on this one. Nice looking car though. It is a shame, cause the price is very reasonable for an R/T with a full glass roof, sunroof, etc. Oh well, I will keep looking.
