Okay... Looking for opinions.

I have an opportunity to get a brand new 1st Gen Viper Fiberglass Hood (weighs 22 pounds compared to stock 60 pounds) with the raised cowl and functional cold air intake at a *special* price (Same hood/maker that VR4Maniac and i3ivix17 have). The plus side is, I can get it for cheaper than what they're selling for. The bad side is that I still have to get it painted, etc so I'd still spend my fair share on the setup (especially since I won't get a CHEAP-O paintjob if I did it).

Any opinions on if I should do it, or whether I should save my pennies for something else? The notion of getting this hood never entered my mind until this opportunity came along tonight.

Most of you know, my car is mainly geared towards show, with some go... Although I've been considering more "go" lately but that won't happen if I put my $ towards this hood and paintjob. However, the deal is pretty good and the look of that hood is just stunning so it's tempting.

I think its sweet man.. If anything you can always buy it and be a ricer and not paint it.. Just kidding.. but seriously if its a good deal buy it and wait to install/paint it till you can get the cash or whatever..

Well because it weights less it qualifies as show and go so I say get it.

yup thats right. save about 40 lbs, colder air to the intake, and raised cowl alows hot air to escape through the back. Plus u got the money for it now, u can always get it and wait to put it on.

It's up to you wether you should get it or not, but honestly, if it's not finished, tested, and sitting right in their storage room right now, I wouldn't lay a dime down. I've seen a few projects that people invest their $$ into that turn into nothing and/or they don't get their $$ back. I say, if you decide to get it, wait until they have a few produced on the shelf for sale first. Yeh, you probably won't get the deal, but there's a much better chance you'll get the product...
