Hey everyone, Wanted to just see what you guys think would be a good tire for me to get. Im looking for something that grips the road well, hopfully last 25-30K miles and isnt to expensive. it doenst have to be an all season tire becuase i store my car in the winter. Im thinking of getting either 17 or 18" adr kasai rims. They look like this. Basically ive never had to buy a high performance tire before and want to know what you guys use or what you think would be best. thanks

Those rims look sweet. How much do they run? How much do they weight?
For tires: I've had good luck with my Kumho Ecsta Supra 712's. They are a very inexpensive tire. They are good to very good in dry. Excellent in wet. And even decent in light snow(under 1" on ground). A very good tire for the money. Other than those, I have no expirience with low budget performance tires. I payed 85 bucks a tire for 245/45/zr17's. When you get into the 18" range, you'll be paying $100+ per tire, no matter what brand you get. Let me know if you want any more specifics on them.

I got quoted $195 a wheel for 18X8. the 17X8 would be much cheaper. Im not sure on their weight i have been trying to find that out. Thanks for the info on the tires thats kinda what im looking for a cheaper but decent tire. i will most likely end up going with 17X8 because of the price. thanks again for the info. Edit: also does anyone know the offset that i need for a base model?

I ran a set of 17x7.5 Rota Battles on my first 2 DSM's. They're knock-offs of some brand, but they stood up to 3 seasons of wisconsin roads very well. They are lighter than stock and not that expensive either. http://www.automotosports.com/dsm_Wheels.aspWe have the same bolt pattern as the DSM, but I don't know about the offset... For tires, well... The kumos on my car are sufficent (didn't last long though), but I wish Bridgestone still made the Potenza RE70 or RE90 series. They were awesome tires. Wet traction was unmatched and even after 10K (on an AWD car), they still looked very good. They still make a tire like the RE's, but they are quite a bit more expensive now.

If you would consider winter driving, I use BF Goodridge g-Force T/A KWDS with ZY speed rating. The newer ones seem to have a W rating so I'm not sure what changed.
They handle well in on dry, wet and snowy pavement and with 20k miles on them they have plenty of tread remaining.
