We finally got the dyno up and running last night. The 60 gallon air compressor isn't big enough to keep up with the air brakes for the load control and the wide band O2 didn't survive the flood. Other than that, we're up and running. We baught 2 high velocity fans to blow air at the radiator/innercoolers which are stronger than leafblowers (and about as loud).
We used a 98 base 3KGT, a 2006 pontiac GTO, the yellow 94 stealth I have for sale in the classifieds, and my car as the guinepigs. The temp was 95 degrees and the humidity was about 75%. Each car got 2 pulls.
The poor SOHC motor layed down a whopping 138 HP on its best run. I don't remember the torque.
The brand new/stock GTO layed down 340 HP and 322HP with the AC on.
The yellow stealth (which is completely stock down to the air filter) layed down 288hp and 297ft/lbs of torque.
My car layed down an even 300hp and 309ft/lbs at .98bar (14psi) of boost. The only mods I have are a boost controler, the wheels, and CF driveshaft. The exhaust is still stock with all 3 cats.
I'm not sure if I should be disappointed or not, but I was hoping for a little more. Maybe the high air temps played a lot into the numbers, but I'm going to wait for the new WBO2 to show up for the dyno and go at it again.
I do plan on dynoing every mod I put on the car from this point to see the differences. My next mod will be a downpipe and gutted rear pre-cat followed by a lightweight flywheel.
Oh, and 155mph on the dyno is an odd thrill.
