CBatters on 3SI made a thread about how he found the cause of the click click start issue our cars randomly develop in the older years.
All you need is a long & short phillips screwdriver and a flat head screwdriver.
There's a 6 prong wire harness that comes from the left side of the lock cylender. This is the harness you tap your turbo timers to. It's held onto the lock cylender by 1 small philips screw. You can see it by removing the lower steering rack cover which is held on by 4 phillips screws on the bottom.
His solution is to just replace the harness. I found out why this happens. Wish I had a camera... The fix is very simple.
If you remove the harness from the car (it only about 1.5 ft long) and carefully remove the white plastic cover with a small flat head screwdriver, you'll find 2 copper plates with some lithium grease on them.
If you look at where the black wire with a yellow stripe is soldered to the black plastic cap, you'll notice it's probably black along with the area on the copper plate.
Simply scrape off the black crap and reassembe. Piece of cake.
If your lock cylender doesn't work any more, that means you messed up the orientation of the 2 copper plates.
