My 94 R/T is not the original color. It is Midnight Blue. I looked into replacing the Dodge and Stealth R/T decals on the back of the car. A dime sized chip of paint on the drivers front quarter panel told me that the original color was royal blue (which was my fav anyways). Should I replace the decals? I believe they are part see thru? The decals come in the colors of the original paint. Would It be a badass midnight Blue Stealth with Red, Silver, or Yellow decals?
Can anyone tell me if decals show the paint thru them at all?
On a side note...Midnight blue is found on more recent cars. This paint job and lack of Identification on the back of the car gets alot of people telling me that they like my new car. Also the teenagers come up and ask what kind of car it is since they were only 5 when the last one went into production.

The badging on the back isn't see through. You'll also have a hard timing finding replacements now. Especially in the more rare colors like blue. You could try calling the Dodge dealer, but don't get your hopes up. I remember a MN 3/S member was looking for the 95 pearl white color badging last year. He could only find half of the badging in white. (found the Dodge but not the "stealth or vice versa) Its also kind of spendy for badging. On a side note. 3M makes the badging for the Stealth. Many years ago, one of our members worked for 3M in St. Paul and he scored me the "Stealth R/T" badging for free. Ahhh, the good ol' days. later, Curt

Yea they are available in MOST colors...I am not sure about the pearlized. And they are a bit pricey. You'd think they would have more of the pearlized in leftover stock considering the very low production of those colors.

The badging itself actually is transparent, but when it is painted, you cannot see through it.
If you remove the paint (by sanding or stripping), the letters will appear to be a dark charcoal due to the adhesive used on the backside. I did this on my old TT for a short period of time, so I may be able to dig up a picture.

Badging? If they are somewhat transparent and I put a yellow decal over my blue car...do I get a Green Stealth R/T decal?

Brad We must be thinking of two different things?? I'm talking about the "DODGE" and "STEALTH R/T" found on the rear bumper. They are sold as a solid color, not transparent. I've bought the black ones before and applied them to my Steath. There was nothing see through about the letters. I have seen Stealths that have been repainted and the letters were repainted along with the car. Are you saying that you have letters that are see through until they are painted??? later, Curt

Vinyl graphics (aka decals) are not transparent and will remain their existing color regardless of the color of the surface on which they are applied. Over time, the color of the decals will probably fade (just like paint fades).
The raised badging (e.g. the Dodge, Stealth R/T, and Twin Turbo) which is stock on the Stealths is what Curt and I were discussing. I removed the paint from the badging on my 92 RT TT, and the polymer material is clear (transparent). The adhesive backing is a black or dark charcoal color. This made the badging appear to be black, when in fact when you look at it very closely it is clear. When you order the badging from a dealer, it comes pre-painted, so you will never see the base polymer unless you remove the factory paint.

Brad Ahh, now that made perfect sense. I didn't realize you sanded off the original paint on the lettering. later, Curt
