Hey guys, what do you guys think I should do with my stealth? Im finally fed up with the thing! Its time to get rid of it..
Do you think I would be better of trying to sell it as is? part it out? or sell the performance stuff and sell it as is then?
Heres the deal.. The synchros are all pretty much on there way out.. When I start it up and its cold it will grind going to second no matter what.. So that would need to be fixxed..
Also on saturday my tire blew out of the car and now my rim is even more bent.. SO im not buying another one anytime soon.
What are you guys thoughts? One of my friends was kinda interested in the car but also wouldnt really know what a fair price would be..
So far this yr I had to get a new bulb for the headlight, new brakes and rotors(stillen $750), replaced antifreeze, clutch line to slave cylinder, and now the tire blew out and my rim is probably junk.. IM sure more stuff to just cant think of it..
Car has 106kmiles on it.. I would say maybe 7 out of 10 for shape.. Car has polished ypipe (paid $150) stillen dp($360) brakes and rotors($750) SBC ID ebc($500) borla ($550) egr&fuel mod ek2mfg($75) 3sx stage 3 clutch and fidanza flywheel(over $900) lightweight battery($100) Greddy type S bov ($190) KN FIPK($170) autometer boost&a/f gage w/pod ($125) IM thinking of possibly selling the performance stuff and then either parting out the car or selling it cheaper or selling it as is for a fair price!!
Any suggestions.

I think you will always get more for the car parting out the performance parts individually. If I were you, I'd sell as much seperately from the car as possible then sell the car itself. Sorry to hear you're selling it. You ARE buying a different 3/S next right? right? right? Not thinking about that C5 I hope. Maybe the RT will see daylight again then? JRink

Sorry to see your selling Ryan, but I know what it's like to loose interest in a vehicle. Try and see how much you can get with it the way it is first. You never know, there might be some kid whos parents are loaded $$ who will give you a fortune for it (happened with me a couple times). Wait it out a while, then take off all the performance stuff and sell the car stock.
Might take that Type S if you do decide to part out.

Thanks guys.
I was thinking of putting it for sale on 3si and then saying everything is dealable.. Like you can make your own car.. For example if you want the car minus the exhaust ill knock the price down a little. Or whatever.
Figured I would toss it up there and see what happens.. Occasionally I see someone looking for one with a blown engine or tranny or something so maybe ill look at that more..
Its gonna kinda suck not hearing the turbos spool and the BOV going off.. But I just finally said enough is enough.. Ryan

You'd probably have better luck with the car trying to sell it locally i would guess. Everyone on 3SI.org is looking for a cheap deal and hardly anyone wants to pay a FAIR price. The one thing you have on your side is time, doesn't seem like you HAVE to sell ASAP so you can at least sell without having to bend over to everyone wanting the car for cheaper than what you want to sell.

Jesse's right, it seems no one on 3si has $$. It took me 3-4 months to sell my 91TT. Put an add in the paper, then all of a sudden, everyone wanted the car...
Put an add in the paper for $10000 and see what happens.

You could put it on eBay. As long as you add plenty of pictures and describe the car without BS it should sell for a fair price. Just don't fall for the cashier check scam that is going around. Google it and you will find out what I'm talking about. It happens with direct sales too. On the other hand you could fix the car and be happy with it again. The synchros can be replaced by anyone with a good back ground in fixing cars. Jeff Lucious has a page on it but I prefer John's JRC page. http://www.vr4stealth.com/Look under repairs - transmission As for the wheel and tire you could get a used rim from a salvage yard and buy a replacement tire if they still make the same tread and compound tire. If your other tires are worn down you should just replace the set of 4. If you want to do it on the cheap some places sell used tires but be aware that you could put your life in jeopardy form such tires. I know tires are expensive but sometimes you have to do it. In 2002 I put on a new set of ZY 180+ MPH rated all year radials for $680. At least I got 65,000 miles out of the last set. The old tires still had some tread left. The way you feel about your car is normal for any car. I love/hated many of my classics. Right now my VR-4 is behaving or I might of sold it after the transfer case incident this summer. I guess you have to sell when the hate out weighs the love or the car no longer fits you needs.

Thanks for your thoughts man..
I know about the scam going around.. Friend of mine got screwed by it.. Guy bought his gsxr1000 from him.. Didnt give him the title luckily enough. But he cashed the check and went to buy his new bike.. Just to find out the money never went in his account.. So now he is out the money and his new bike he was buying..
I was about 90% I was gonna sell the car anyway.. Now I kinda hit the last straw.. Ive put more money into it so far then ive driven it..
Love the car but not as much as my blue RT so it wont bother me to see it go.. When I go to sell my baby(92RT) that will be hard.. Ryan

I think you should keep the car, but you do hae to pay to play with these things. If you do decide to sell I might be interested in the downpipe. Good Luck!!
