I currently have my car covered with a light, universal cover. I have it weighted down and secured nicely at the nose and the tail, but the sides just kinda flap around and I'm worried it may note be the best for the paint. Is there someplace I can check into quality, heavy covers that are fitted for these cars? Any recommendations or thoughts? thanks.

Tuck the cover behind the wheels. What I mean is, at each wheel, grab the bottom of the cover and pull it over the top of the tire exposing the wheels. Then tuck it under the fenders. This keeps the cover snug on all sides even during windy days.
Another idea is, if you have the same cover I do (the one from wal-mart), there is a hole right on the middle edge for a rope or shoe string on both sides of the car (it's right under the door when the cover is on the car). You can connect them together by running the rope under the car. This will keep the cover from blowing away.
I used to store my car outside...

I'm still intrested in knowing if any one has a quality fitted cover for their 3/S and were they got it from. I'd like one for my car.

Ive got one made for the stealth. Damned if I know where it's from though. I got it as a Christmas gift back in 98.

Actually, my 6 year old wal-mart cover has done me very well for spending half its life outdoors. One time I left the windows open, the roof off, and just put the cover over the car. It poured rain over night and to my amazement, not a single drop of water got inside the car. Don't know if they still make them that well or not, but it was a he11 of a deal for $25.

Based on your above description, I'm not sure I could get the cover to "stay put" behind each tire like that. Seems like some breeze would disrupt things and then the cover material would pop out from behind the tire. I can try though, see is I like it better. In general, I'd just like to have something with a little thicker material, I thnk. I worry about someone (roommate, visitor) walking past my car on the tight driveway carrying something and rubbing up against the car or something. (Like, say, a snow shovel or a duffel bag or something )I'd cover it in the summer for this reason. You know how careless people can be. I don't want to have to kill anyone.

On the contrary, the edge of the cover goes almost halfway down the back side of the wheel before you get to the hub, and tucking the edges under the car will keep it very secure. You'll see when you try it. Chrome is tuff. Don't worry about leaving it exposed. It won't fade in the sun. Plus, it looks kinda cool having your car covered with the wheels showing. As for dings, um... They don't really make a cover thick enough to pad the mark from a shovel. Donno what to tell ya... b.t.w. Covering the car at night before it snows or the moisture freezes makes scrapping your windows 50x easier.

I'm just picturing one of my rommate's dumbass chick friends walking by obliviously with a purse that scrapes the car with a button or zipper or something. I'm not sure what kind of cover I was envisioning. Maybe a canvas or padded vinyl type thing. I'm not good with fabrics. What I really need is a hard-shell case ... treat it like a giant guitar or something, lol.

They have a small fan on the side that keeps a thin plastic inflated and it's also suppose to take out moisture. I think I saw it in the dupont registry(my version of porn). Not that great for outside applications, but if you wanted to keep every one in the garage awzay from your car it's amazing.

Reviving a dead thread. SJ, do you remember which of those covers is the kind you have?

I purchased my cover in Dec. 2002 from CoverSearch.com. It is a custom fitted cover with an elastic band around the bottom. The elastic has held up very well and is still strong. I keep the car garaged so not sure how the cover's sides will react on a windy day if it were outside. I got their top-of-the-line cover. It was expensive at over $250 but I think well worth the price as it is still like new. Very happy with it. Current cost is around $210.

Polycotton or Dustop is my guess strickly by looking at it. The guy I bought it from stored his car outside as was mor anal about the outside of his car than your cousin... gosh, I miss him <sniff>
I could check at home later this week if you like and see if it has a tag on it. Or you can always stop by.
Let me know.
Best,
SJ

Does anyone here think that a cover fitted for a 93 Stealth would have any trouble fitting a 95 3000GT? The spoilers are different, but the covers can't be THAT specific, are they?
I've got a lead on a fitted cover, including side mirror pockets, and the guy had it for a 93 Stealth.
