With Greg's help I am undergoing this transformation.... We got the rear diff out tonight and everything out of the way to take the tranny out tomorrow. I need to find a place locally that can press the new gear on for me and then reassemble everything. Greg found the responsible party involved in the sludge I found all over my transmission; the boot on one of my half shafts is ripped in half. My wideband should be here this week, so I can throw that in as well. The VR-Slow will be ready to rock by the time the wheels show up so it can hit the track!

The rear end looks good. I ground away most of the rust that was left on it and resprayed it with the rust protectant; it won't be going in until next week when the seals I ordered get here. As usual the exhaust was "fun" to get loose; I have to get some new exhaust gaskets today. I have taken some pics but need somewhere to host them. I was using photobucket but forgot my password. All I'm doing for this summer is the MR gears, DSM sidemounts, SAFC, 450cc injectors, hotwired stock pump. The turbos, heads, MAP ECU, supra pump, etc are next winter/spring.

HOLY S%&! Its going to cost me $150 to get my half shaft repaired unless someone knows of something cheaper...... www.raxles.com wants $149.95 to do it. A new one from mitsu runs $509.32 or some shit with the discount! DAMN THIS CAR!

150 for just the one? Wow, their prices went up quite a bit in the last few years...
Ask them to only redo the joint with the open boot. That other one look great still.

Well....autozone can get me a reman one for $100 which is less than $150, and no shipping.
Napa claims they are no longer made so they can't even get one, but the price would have been the same.
Oh oh, whats this box sitting outside the garage??? Its a DSM intercooler! MUhahahhahah
one down, one to go

Well the rear saner sway bar is completely installed (after much fabrication and complaining) and the rear subframe is back up where it should be. The rear diff will be going in tonight after work.
If anyone else out there is thinking about doing a rear sway bar my advice is HAVE SOMEONE ELSE DO IT!

If you haven't found this out yet Autozone can't get the axles.

Autozone is where I got mine from last week, and it was cheaper than that place rebuilding mine!
What did you run at the track Matt before you destroyed the axles?

Well Greg and I *almost* got the transmission in last night.
Greg, I'm sorry if I was a cock to ya last night; I get that way when I'm frustrated with that piece of shit car. I DEFINATELY appreciate your help.
I *hope* to have the tranny in the rest of the way tomorrow night; my father and I are going to work on it after I get done with work tomorrow.
Some funny info: The VIN off my transmission was to a 96 VR4 spyder! Apparently in addition to having a reassigned VIN # the VR-Slow has a transmission out of a different car.....

Wll after spending another 3 hours tonight and still not getting the transmission in I'm taking some time off. I'm not even remotely motivated to work on the car anymore. I'm going to let it sit and see if I get the bug again, otherwise I won't be going to the national this year.

YOU ARE going to the NG even if I have to drag you behind my car! I might be able to help next weekend if you want.
