Yeah....another thing on the list to fix. But the oil musta leaked outta it and it seized up, locked right up, couldnt even move the car at all, had to pull off the transfer case to get it on the car trailer, christine's dad came with a trailer and hauled it all the way to oconto, if it wasnt for him i dont know what i would have done, Thanks again gordon!!
So i need a 5 speed, 25 spline transfer case, if anyone knows or has one for sale please let me know.
Thanks Brian

Brain, I think Christine is rubbing off on you. The two of you have no luck. I am sorry to hear that. I don't have a TC for ya but if you need any help let me know.

You should get an absolutely free T-case through the recall. Trust me, I had to battle my way to one in a more difficult set of cirsumstances, but I'm sure that if you deal with a descent dealership, it shouldn't cost you a dime.
If you have any questions about it at all, just give me a call Brian: 715 252-3099 is my cell #...
Thank God nobody was hurt when it locked...
Matt

Just doing a little more thinking...you should be able to get the tow costs taken care of, and, if anything was broken, those costs should be covered by Mitsubishi/Dodge as well.
Matt

This is from the letter I got from Mitsubishi Motor Corporation:
"What is the safety issue? Mitsubishi Motors Sales of America, Inc. has determined that a defect which affects vehicle safety exists in certain 1991 through 1999 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 vehicles. There is a possibility that a leak in the transfer case may cause bearing failure and subsequent lock-up of the wheels, which could result in a crash."
Does it sound familiar?

Yes, I'm glad that no one was hurt when it failed. Bust some skulls down at the dodge dealer.

Matt That depends on the dealership. Brian has already removed the t-case several times now, and if they feel like being pricks, that's a good enough reason to deny replacing it.

Ya reinstall the T-case and take the car in. It shouldn't matter if it has been removed before or not it is a safety issue of a known design flaw not a warranty issue. They may try to say that it isn't covered because the car is modded but they still have to do it. At that point you will and to call Mits/Dodge or the NTSB and talk with them.

I'm not saying they won't cover it, I'm saying they might use that as an excuse to deny fixing it. Oh, they might even use the mods as an excuse too.
Depends on the dealer...

I give Brian a better chance than most in this case. He's a smart guy and has some relationships at the local dodge dealership. I hope they do the right thing and follow through on a part that failed exactly as described in the recall letters sent out all over the country...
Good luck Brian!!!!

Pull the case and drain the fluid into a measuring cup. That's the only way I know of. The case only holds 1/2 qt of fluid. Even with a small leak, there's not a whole lot of fluid to loose.
If you're concerned about it, jack the car up and look for leaks yourself. Heck, go to the dealer, buy the "recall replacement parts kit" and just perform the recall yourself reguardless if it needs it or not. It's only $35 plus the $9 for a quart of Red Line 75W/90 Gear Oil. Takes maybe 3-4 hours if you're slow (like me).
