I thought on 2nd gens this was already done and that is why they run more boost from the factory?

If you do it on the second gen they run an additional 2 psi more. We yoinked the boost soleniod off from my car for brett's car. they're pretty identical. We(Greg ) pulled the little rubber o-ring out, so second gens have one. EDIT: Though I doubt Brett is running 13psi. I would think that he is running 9(selinoid)+2(-1 o-ring) = 11 psi, not 9(selinoid)+2(-1 o-ring)+2(2nd gen) = 13. The psi difference must come somewhere else.

I don't think I'm at 13psi, but then again who really knows, I'm still saving for my fixes on the car and THEN she'll see some mods...

Guys have done this to their 2G's on 3si and reported 2 more psi on top of the stock 11 or 12 psi. The question with Bretts car is if using the 2G solenoid (from Adam's car) with the ring out gave him 4 more psi or only 2. He doesn't have a boost gauge, and he couldn't tell the difference, but that's probably because he just got the car. http://www.stealth316.com/2-freeboost.htm

Don't look at the stock boost gauge if you have an aftermarket. the stock one calculates boost from airflow, engine load, and throttle position. It can only give you a general idea of the boost that is run in a car. What kind of aftermarket gauge? where is it hooked to? I am going to buy into Greg's leak ideaology. Time to pressure test.

no pressure testing is not expensive. you can do it yourself or have someone else do it. You pull the air filter and MAF off and stick a plug in the gapping hole. then hook an aircompressor up to the plug and pump the car up to about 12 psi and listen for leaks. There are two ways to plug off the gapping hole. you can buy the aluminum adaptor plate for 35 bucks at 3sx, or you can ghetto rig something out of CPVC tubing that you wedge into the hole and clamp down. I think there are instructions on stealth316.com, but don't quote me on that. then you just need the air compressor. the aluminum adaptor plate from 3sx is just tits. and the other way you'll have 25 bucks in parts, so pick whatever you want. http://www.3sxperformance.com/tools.asphalf way down. pretty self explanitory.
