440 4x4 wrote: Keep any and all sharp objects away from Jesse at NG'05 if he doesn't win "best engine bay" Actually I don't think I'll be able to win even after the changes this winter. The award goes to Best engine bay, not cleanest. And those awards usually go to people that have done crazy stuff to their engine, regardless of the "detail". For instance, like Brandon said, Jack won 2nd place pretty much due to the innovation and modifications he's done. The other two winners were, IMHO, not nearly as clean/detailed as mine either, but they were sporting some cool things I wasn't (big turbos, fmic, dual intake filters, custom setups, etc.). At the show, I admit I was surprised I didn't win something, but sometimes it's NOT about glitz and shiny stuff, but about results. Which is fine too. Those people deserve props for their engine bays... Not to mention, the competition next year will be even tougher I think. Lots of people coming out with crazy setups now. J

Were did you have the alternator and compressor polished? How much did that set you back? Just thinking about having mine done. They look really sweet! Tim

J Jesse, I disagree with you. As much as it pains me to say this, you had the best engine bay at NG 04 and you should have won it. The judging was just whacked at the car show. Especially when a very minor modded black Spyder can win "best 2g, stock to mild." When you putting the judging in the hands of a few people with zero experience, thats what you get. Oh well, there is always the All Mitsu Cookout. later, Curt

Brandon, You should have your parts today I'm guessing. UPS.
Curt, Appreciate that. Maybe this coming year will be different. Ya never know! And I disagree with you about your trophy. It's well deserved. Same goes for Dave Knauf's trophy for his stock/mild 1G stealth. That thing is a beauty.
Tim, I sent you an PM about the polishing. I'll be getting more back from him tomorrow after work. He's finished with the AC lines and other miscellaneous items. Dave Best should have my 50lb box of items (mostly brackets and such) I sent him within a day or so. Need him to do some powder coating for me.

Those heads are so clean and pretty. Why aren't they polished or powdercoated? Looks really nice.

Okay well. When in Rome. Since the engine is out. There's little reason to skimp and NOT paint the entire engine bay in the factory kutani red pearl. Here's a picture from 4am or so last night when Aaron and I finished removing everything. Headlights, hood, coolant res, ABS lines, wiring, strut covers, wiper motor (what a bitch!), brackets, etc. from anything inside the upper firewall, side fender panels and front bumper area. Next comes prep work.
