MRink wrote: Thanks everyone. Great responses. I hate to keep the questions coming, but such is my nature. So, two more things... Are there any opinions on this gauge?: http://www.machv.com/spwsicafibog.html ... I like the fact that it has illumination color options that would look closer to stock. The only one I've seen like that. Seems cheap, too. (Too cheep?) Also, can you do a manual boost controller but have an digital boost gauge? (just to take advantage of a peak hold feature) I don't think I saw any digital gauges when I was looking around last night unless it was an EBC package. Then again, I may not have known exactly what I was looking at.... Keep the questions comming. Better to take advantage of someone elses experience than wasting $$ to find out elsewise. That gauge seems kinda hard to read. It's also mechanical (meaning a vac line must be fed to it through the firewall) so it doesn't have peak hold, if that's a feature you want. Mechanical = cheeper Autometer is comming out with a gauge that will have different color options for back lighting (orange being one). The black face greddy ones look stock durring the day, but light up green at night, and they only come in metric units. Picture of 60mm greddy gauges The only digital gauges I know of are www.dakotadigital.com. I've considered these for my car. I've done some research on them, and they seem to be fairly straight forward to install. Only a few people on 3si use them, and they don't have much to say about them...

Autometer is comming out with a gauge that will have different color options for back lighting (orange being one). I didn't realize that the analog gauges could be electronic. I think I associated 'electronic' with a digital readout. I see now that an analog boost gauge can be either mechanical or electronic. What's the big advantage of an electronic gauge compared to mechanical? Accuracy? And the multi-color Autometer gauge you're talking about would be electronic, eh? Do you know if it will be available with a white face? Is there an ETA and estimated price?

My future plans will hopefully mean white gauges (with amber backlighting to match stereo and other interior lights), so I think I'd be more interested in a white-faced, orange-backlit gauge. I'll definitely take a look, though ... thanks.

Accuracy, responce, peak hold/memory (although, there are a few electrical gauge without this feature), lots of advantages. They are, however, double the price though. BUT, a wire is easier to fit through the firewall compared to a vacume line. http://hp.autometer.com/products/nexus/index.html

The only post that he's made on this sight so far had boost gauges and a couple website links. How unfortunate. The defi " D-Gauge" looks like almost a perfect match but is a mechanical gauge. The defi " Link Meter" sounds like a pretty nice electronic gauge, but is backlit in green.

Hey, don't get me wrong on mechanical gauges, they work just fine. SPI makes a black faced mechanical gauge for $20 that was just as nice as the $100 autometer. I've used almost every brand out there in all my cars (my current stealth had an autometer ultralite till it got stollen) with no issues. It's just the 60mm gauges with peak/hold are so nice because they're very easy to read, the warning lights are bright and really grab your attention if the readings go over your set level, so you can keep your eyes on the road instead of the gauge. BUT they're $200. You can find used ones all over the net too though.
