I didn't know there was a handshake but I assume its only using one hand and not both because your other hand should be holding your beer!
Just want to let you know because others have plugged Renner Mitsubishi for parts I gave them a call and talked to Marilyn and told her that I was with 3SI. Got great prices and the parts will go out today. Awesome!! I told her I also would mention it in the newgroup.
Provided the parts arrive safe and sound I'm now assuming I will check them out for my parts on my 120K service.

Yeah, I once again dropped a EGR gasket into the abiss. I think I'm 0-4 now. gawd, I'm glad I deleted that on my car, I'd lose those every weekend. As of right now, we are thinking that a new set of plugs and wires should take care of his problem. Also, one of his plug wires were rubbing on the rear of the front head. I'm not sure if this is a common 3/S thing, but it may very well be. I'll be checking my car for it tonight. Provided that I get to it... to busy. S.J. We have a secret hand shake, nobody showed you? now I feel better.

There should be one that attaches to the thermostat housing and 2 others that just attach to the plug wires before and after that one. It's common for one of the plug wires to get pinched between the rear valve cover and the intake plunum where the throttle body attaches.

It's common for one of the plug wires to get pinched between the rear valve cover and the intake plunum where the throttle body attaches. Greg, It wasn't pinching the REAR plug wires. It was the rear of the FRONT valve cover (I said haed before. my bad.). Well before any other wire holders. It was the last coil, where the wire does a 180 to come back and go under the spark plug cover. There was a little nubby-guy (technical term) that had rubbed through the outer rubber coating. Perhaps because they were an auto store brand, and a little long...? I do recall my MSD wires being a tad long, which is why I am concerned... I don't think that I have seen this on a stock set of wires, though. Kyle, what plugs and wires are you getting? after you change them you may want to go for a "spirited" drive to clean out the rest of the carbon from the cylinders. It was pretty thick in there. S.J. We don't tell you because it's so fun listening to you whine about it later.

I looked at the MSD wires but after thinking about how much I drive the car (5-6K a year) and I don't have it all tuned up I ended up buying the stock wires. I just picked up the a set of the NGK BCPR6ES-11 plugs that were listed by Jeff Lucius on his Stealth 316 site. Plugs were a whopping $1.89. Renner didn't have the Turbo O-ring and neither did NAPA or our local dealership. I did get one matched up at the local Mom and Pop hardware store. It should do for now. I guess I will know when I get a chance to do a pressure test. Can't wait for the parts to arrive so I can get it up and running again. After see how bad the plugs were I pretty much think that plugs and wires should be me going again. Again, thanks for all your help. http://www.stealth316.com/2-sparkchange.htm

Well my parts arrived and the car will be back together tonight. I got rid of the aftermarket wires and installed the factory wires I just got. The factory wires fit great. The aftermarket wires were too long on some of them especially the one we saw the black "arc" mark on. I noticed that black mark on some of the other wires also. Just for kicks I might check the resistance on the old wires just to see where they were at. Anyway the new plugs and wires are installed, new gasket and the plenum are installed but not torqued down yet. So it should be running tonight!!!

How far off were all of us?? uh? we pulled the plugs and they were black and full of carbon from sitting all winter. the wires had spots that the insulation was rubbed through. Don't know if the car is running. Kyle said he was putting it back together last night, but I didn't hear from him. I'd hate to claim that those fixed his problem, and then have him come on and post that it's still there. I did work on the girlfriend's saturn last night. fixed the drivers side rear window so you can't roll it up and down from out side anymore. 7 dollar plastic piece. 4 hours of labor. (at least.) plus the part I got needed to be "modified." I love air tools.

Adam fixed the problem, plugs and wires. I did drop one bolt from the small mount on the vacuum line on the mount on the rear middle rear plenum. I disappeared into the abyss!!! I remember you saying you didn't have that little mount on your car. Car is up and running smooth. Swapped the license plate from the winter beater and took the VR4 for a quick ride last night. I know a dead end back road that I could kick it down. Turbos spooled up, really no hesitation and ran nice. Oil pressure seems to be a bit better with the new 15W50 oil. Idle is smooth. I just couldn't kick it down too much, it was dusk and deer everywhere. Now I just need to stop at the state office this morning and have the plate officially transferred.
Still not sure on the UMG. I really want to go but might be into a deal on a dozen video games. I buy, repair and sell games as a hobby and if I make a deal it will eat up a good part of my extra cash.
