I got the steering wheel buttons for the radio last night. The only problem is I did not get the full length of wires with it, so I need to make one up, and then see how it is run. SoooOOooo, anybody with the said controls still intact that wouldn't mind stopping by my house and taking a few minutes to show me how there wired would be my hero. I'm not sure if first gen and second gen are wired the same, as I don't know anything about this wiring... thanks. Adam

I wonder who this is directed at?
My controls are still in tact, but not working due to an aftermarket cd player. When do you want me to pop on by? I'm busy tonight, unless it rains..

Did you find the plug behind the dash for the controls? If it's there (which, according to someone from MN, it is) it should just be plug and play. I'm looking swapping them in myself. Already got a deal worked out on that. ...and a power antenna.

Um, I didn't get the cord, so it will not plug in. yeah, I know... boo on me. I have the actual buttons and the plastic peice that mounts them to the steering wheel. It's in really nice shape, none of the buttons are worn or anything... In the back of the unit there are two wires, a green one and a yellow one, coming out of a plug. I'm assuming the guy who sold me the buttons didn't want to tear his car apart to get two wires out. not that big of a deal, but the other end of the plug would have been nice. SoooOOOooo, does this sound right? should the thing just have two wires running to the back of the... um... main unit? I'm not a stereo guy at all here, so type in small, easy to understand words. I haven't had the stereo apart in my car yet. (Stocker works and aftermarket doesn't make me faster...) I was actaully kinda hoping that I could get at this plug hole from the drivers/passengers side kick panel. MATT! do you still have your cable? you were talking about hooking your up to some kinda wireless remote thingy. Also you should have the exact same setup as me. what does yours look like? hook up to? P.S. Is your car running yet? I saw a black 3000GT in oshkosh yesterday at about 12:00 as I was coming back from milwaukee. It looked alot like yours. ~ similar rims EDIT: and boo on the power antenna. I like my car looking like a really big RC car.

How can they be hooked up with an aftermarket stereo? I have the controls and the first part of the plug, with the wires clipped off. so, how does the clip plug into the stereo? Maybe what I need to ask is if it was just two wires going into the stereo, or is there more? (a yellow one and a green one? if you remember. ) Brett, when your free call me. 655 4702. I'm on mary jo now. 2610 blue house. Should be moving the stealth tonight. I finally have enough stuff out of the way.

I'm a little confused by your post. Are you trying to hook the stock steering wheel buttons up to the stock stereo?? And you have a 95 R/T TT, right?? If this is true, it is super simple. On 95 R/T TT the plug for the steering wheel controls is right behind the airbag. You simply plug it in. I did this mod on my 95 Stealth.
later, Curt

thanks man! It is dude, trust me. Pull the airbag off the steering wheel, and it will be tucked behind some bracket, but its in plain sight. This is only true on the 95 R/T TT. Oskar and myself have both done this. I'd suggest trying to not unplug the airbag. I unplugged mine while doing the install, and after hooking it all back up, my SRS light was on. It probably just needs to be reset, but the dealer has to do it, and I'm lazy. The really odd thing is the steering wheel plug is not found on the 96 R/T TT. Francis was the guinea pig for this. No plug on 95 base 3000GTs either. later, Curt

Curt!
I pulled the air bag last night, and found the plug. Just like you said. You da man. I thought running the wire wopuld be the hard part.
Now another question. I guess I assumed that the steering wheel assembly would have mounting holes and missing bolts and that this thing would bolt right up. I guess I had this backwards. the wire is there, but the holes are not.
How did you mount yours? Did you drill new holes? Did you just go into the plastic, or did you find something more substantial? or do they sell the VR-4 steering wheel bracket at the dealer or something?
thanks a bunch.

There is a metal bracket that attaches to the steering wheel controls and the steering wheel. Its kind of shaped like a letter H. Whoever you bought those controls from should of sold you that too. Then you'll have to cut out part of the bottom of the plastic casing that goes around the steering wheel column. I had it easy when I did mine because I had the H bracket and my Spyder was sitting right there that already had the controls. later, Curt

Ok, so I still need to see a 3000GT second gen to see how this all hooks together. boo.
Damnit Matt, put your axle together already! You can stop by and try out the pool while I take pics of your steering wheel.
I think I may be missing that braket, but if I know what it looks like I'll fab one up in no time.

I fix it if i had the axle. I may have to fly out there and get it my self. I don't know what's going on yet for the weekend but i might be able to stop up. If I don't have the car i'll pull the bracket and see it me can make one or something like it.
