What's the deal with some tracks letting people get away with running <11.99s without a roll bar, but other tracks require a roll bar if someone runs <11.99s.
What are the rules at WIR and GLD? I think GLD is very strict about this aren't they? If you run an 11.98 without a bar, I think you get booted at GLD don't you?
I started wondering this after hearing Matt ran 11's at WIR and why he didn't get the boot.

WIR is pretty strict. They do have follow different rule though one is nhra and one is ihra. I don't remember what track uses what. I know at WIR you have to wear a helmet regardless of E.T. and I believe you don't at GLD until 15.99. They are a little leanent for RSD though.

From what I have seen at GLD...
Helmet for 13.99 and under Roll bar and harness for 10.99 and under Chute for anyone running 9.99 or under Fire exstinguisher for anyone running nitrous oxide
They do however, allow exceptions during streetcar and events where the track is rented out. I've seen the helmet, roll bar, and harness rules waved for full street cars in street car events. Such as the 'King of the HWY100' event last sat. They were very 'soft' on the rules.
They also dont usually kick you off unless you are way under the times. They let you run the rest of the day, but remind you of what you need the next time and tell you to slow down until you get the right saftey equiptment. They do get picky abut helmets, but that is probably because the rent them leaving very little excuse for not having one.

After doing a little more reading... Both GLD and WIR are IHRA tracks. They follow the minimum safety rules set by IHRA. I just cant seem to find the IHRA rules on the IHRA site.
What was posted above what what I have observed in my many times going there over the last few years.

I thought GLD followed NHRA rules. IHRA Roll bar rule reprint http://members.tripod.com/dragsite/id5.htmMandatory in all cars running 11.49 or quicker, or per class requirements The rule book is $10

According to the GLD website they are an IHRA track, but IHRA requires helmets to all racers. So maybe they host IHRA events, but run the NHRA safety for non-IHRA event racers.

They never said a word to me.....but it could have been because it was RSD, and the times weren't being posted on the boards.

I've seen dozens of 11 sec cars without roll bars or 5-point harnesses running at GLD.
