I am stumped on this one. After the SL engine blew up I ordered a new engine and transmission. The company I bought it from claims the year was a 91' but there are CAS wires that come up the drivers side of the engine which is only found on 4 bolt 94+ engines.
Where the CAS is supposed to be there is just a black cover.
Did your previous engine have the CAS below the throttle body on the rear head or was it blocked off? The 1st gens had the cam sensors there.
I'm a bit confused because your signature states that you have a '95 but you're looking to install the 1g CAS where there is a block off plate which are found on the 2g's. If you previously had a 2g motor in there before, there should be no problem finding the right connectors for the cam and crank sensors.
From your description, it sounds like they sent you a 2g motor. The wires dangling from the timing belt cover are for the crank and cam angle sensors and the block off plate on the rear head (where the 1g CAS goes) are found on 2nd gens. The 2G crank and cam sensors trigger off of the pickup wheels. If those aren't plugged in, you won't get spark.
So, the motor that blew up, was it a 1st or 2nd gen? Also, have you removed the crank sprocket at all?
