I wanted to put pics of my radio and connectors so that y'all can help me identify what stock radio options are available. IE, can I buy a different year 1st gen radio, or the radio with the cd player option, etc. Also, If I absolutely have to buy a different type of radio, is it difficult to swap the wiring harness. http://www.untangible.com/gallery/main. ... temId=3329Thanks, Bret

Bret: This one: http://www.untangible.com/gallery/main. ... temId=3337Looks just like mine -- I think. Ver Fer? Right? SO, you could do the flat panel one like me. I opted to keep it because it has an external jack I just plug my iPod in to. I am planning to add a single sub to the system, and have changed out the tweeters and rear 6x9's with Alpine speakers. It sounds pretty good, but I miss my bass. You know which one I'm talking about Bret? Has the built in pre-set EQ, and cabin and number of people settings? If you need a picture, letmeknow. Oh, yeah, and before I forget -- your momma. Best, SJ

I know exactly which one you are talking about and I'd love to put that in. That is the exact same one I tried to buy off of Aaron out of a 1st gen and the connectors on the back were completely different, that's why I started getting a little confused.

If you do opt to go aftermarket, I'd buy something through Crutchfield.com. They send along all the mounting trim and wiring harnesses free to make an easy swap. I just happened to install a very cool HD radio in your old truck last weekend from them. http://www.crutchfield.com/S-XmmkjkWdeU ... HDR1&g=300Just my 2 cents

May depend on the year there Yankee is my point. SJ

Yank, haha, you're funny, also you forgot to slap the shit out of me at the UMG.
Alright so the one Aaron had came out of a 93 I think he said. So you are saying that same exact style would have been an available option on a 91 and thus the same connectors.
Which goes back to WHAT were the available radio options in 91? Did they come with the disc changer or infinity or any of the others that I've seen. Does anyone remember.
Also which ones came with the amp and which didn't?
I think I'll pull the radio out of my 92 and see what those connectors look like too.
Aftermarket is absolutely not an option.
Bret

Bret Sorry! I didn't realize you were trying to leave everything stock. Try www.car-part.com. Find a junkyard that has some and then go see if any match yours.

I'm no expert because I really haven't paid any attention for I like you am okay with the stock stereo in the car. I have an early '92 (BOD 06.91) and that flat panel radio is the one that came with the car. Mine does not have an amp under the seat. What I am saying is the connectors *look* the same as my car. Ver Fer and I just had mine apart -- VER FER, would you agree? Can you recall? As far as I know, the Infinity systems started with the 2nd gens -- this is where the amp under the seat came in. I hope this helps. Oh, and I'll just double-b*tch slap you at the NG since I forgot... SJ

Hey Bret,
I don't think the stock 93 radios are compatible with the 91 and 92 stereos. If you want to get some concrete answers you should PM Dave57 on 3si. He is an expert with the 3/S stock stereos.
later, Curt

Bret: My two new radios look similar but are not the same and connector sockets on back do not look the same. Mine also have 5 amp fuses that plug into the back. Sorry, Scott P.S. - Can you pm me Chad's email address. I want to get the info on the cleaner he sampled on my car at the UMG. He said the company info was on the bottle.
