i have a block that i took all apart just was wondering what i could ust to clean the pistons and connecting rods. also should the pins where the rods connect to the piston be loose or tight? sorry if i sound like a noob but if i do this on my motor i wanna make sure i do it right.

Clean them with the strongest degreaser you can find and a wire brush.
The pistons should be very loose on the pins. As they age, they get harder to pivot which puts more strain on the crank.
