Hey all, finally spun a bearing on my white 92 3000GT SL. You all told me the straight 50w oil wouldn't hold the lower end together forever but I got about 3 years out of it with low oil pressure so I'd say not bad. I parked it immediately when I heard it go, I put the heads on new when I bought it so really just need a short block but I'll take a long block if that's all I can find.

I've got one, 100k, 92 RT DOHC w/ heads. PUlled it when I did the TT swap, used to smoke after sitting awhile. Looking to get $300 for it all.
Thanks,
Nick Baker

Smokes after sitting a while, that doesn't sound good Do you know if it's any one of these 3 causes: 1. Valve stem seals 2. piston rings 3. head gasket I have newer heads that I can put on it if that would solve the problem, obviously if the problem is in the short block I wouldn't want to open it up and do anything with it.

I believe it was just the heads (VSS), I never pulled the heads from the block.

We'll I just talked to Jeff 440 4x4 about possibly trailering my car out picking up your engine and taking it to his house for the weekend to do just a straight engine swap. As long as your confident I can just drop your engine and drive on it I may be able to make something happen here.

It was drive able, only time it smoked was when I came to a complete stop in traffic for a few minutes. It has been sitting for 3 years, wrapped up so I don't know how that plays into the scheme of things. I personally wouldn't drive down to swap and engine and hope its done to return that Monday - things never go that easy -Nick

We'll I could take vacation time, that's not the issue. I'm almost out of options on an engine though and I'm really really really trying to avoid driving the VR4 this winter.
I would definitely cross my fingers and hope for the best, I could use some good luck right about now and I've been working on my karma a lot, honest.
